Ablaye and The Links: the story of eight musicians.
Ablaye M'baye's real name is Abdoulaye M'baye; he was born blind on the 24th of June 1981 in Dakar in a family of "griots", traditional singers bringing sense and spirituality to a village's life.
Ablaye has been performing since the age of twelve, touring with Youssou N'dour as a back-up singer.
Ablaye has significant talent: the proof is in the five albums he released in Senegal: Agnès, Xalei, Maguena...etc.
Most recently, he was declared a "gold album seller" (100,000 copies) with La Mafia K'1 fry having been featured on a Kery James' song.
One year ago, Sébastien Le bon decided to gather a few of his fellow musicians to form a team around Ablaye. This group would later be called "The Links".
It includes Rodolphe Gervais, sound engineer and Sébastien's tour mate for a few years now, Paco Crespeau, guitar and backing vocals, Martin Balsan, guitar, Timon Nicolas, flute and trumpet, Julien Bonvoisin, bass, Mathieu Lasserre, saxophones and Nicolas Meheust, keyboard and accordion.
Together they will pool their experiences from numerous bands and with several artists including: Ray Charles, Desert Rebel, Nahema, Pause, Percubaba, Strup X, Moon Zaïa, Tarace Boulba...etc.
Naturally, The Links aim to play a mix of musical genres, a new fusion of jazz and m'balaax, of pop and world. "Nu world" definitely.
Seduced by the energy of the project, Stéphane Leconte (tour manager), Vincent Bizeul (monitor sound engineer) and Florent Prin (light engineer) will now join the team.
An important video shoot is scheduled at the Omnibus in St Malô, France to introduce this new act to industry professionals.

Ablaye M'baye, de son vrai nom Abdoulaye Mbaye, non voyant de naissance est né le 24 juin 1981 à Dakar.
Issu d’une famille de griots, le benjamin de la musique sénégalaise se retrouve vite sur le devant de la scène.
Dès l'âge de 12 ans il accompagne Youssou N'Dour comme choriste.
Du talent, Ablaye en a à revendre au vu de ces 5 albums parus au Sénégal (Agnés, Xalei, Maguena....).Et plus récemment disque d'or avec la Mafia K'Fry pour un duo avec Kery James.
Il y a bientôt un an, Sébastien Le Bon ( batterie) a pensé bon de réunir quelques uns de ses amis musiciens pour former un collectif autour d'Ablaye, THE LINKS. Avec Rodolphe Gervais (ingénieur du son) son complice depuis plusieurs années, Paco Crespeau (Guitare, Choeurs), Martin Balsan (Guitare, Basse), Timon Nicolas (Flûte Bansouri,Traversiere, Trompette), Julien Bonvoisin (Basse), Mathieu Lassere (Saxophone Alto, Soprano), Nicolas Meheust (Rhodes, Accordeon).
Partageant leurs expériences au sein de nombreuses formations comme (Ray Charles, Desert Rebel, Pause, Nahema, Percubaba, Strup X, Moon Zaia, Tarace Boulba...). THE LINKS décide naturellement de mélanger les horizons musicaux ; un genre nouveau entre jazz rock et m'balaax, entre pop et variété internationale. De la "nu world".
Stéphane Leconte (régisseur), Vincent Bizeul (ingé. son) et Florent Prin (éclairagiste) charmés par l'énergie du projet rejoindront le collectif.
S'en suit une importante mise en place de captation vidéo et sonore dans la salle de l'Omnibus à St Malo afin de présenter au mieux ce projet aux professionnels du métier.
