The artist Kelvin was born and raised on the Westside of Pittsburgh, PA. Kelvin grew up with his parents, older brother, and twin younger sisters. Life was difficult for Kelvin and his family but Kelvin was blessed that his parents were religion oriented and kept him and his siblings in church. Kelvin loved to play sports and got the opportunity to play football for the Sheraden Tigers as the starting running back. Still being involved in the church Kelvin was involved in the children’s choir, and often chosen as the soloist. He started to play the trumpet in grade school and music became a passion to him just as much as with sports and education, and he excelled at all three. He developed greatly as a person, musician, and scholar-athlete. He was in the school chorus and also played the trumpet in the orchestra and jazz band. Another beautiful thing that happened during his school years was the birth of his daughter Shuniece. He was only sixteen at the time and he knew how much more stress it would put on his already struggling family. But Kelvin didn’t allow it to stop him and continued to work hard in school and with football so that he could provide a better life for himself and his daughter. That hard work led to his graduation with a 3.5 g.p.a. with academic and athletic scholarships from great institutions. To Kelvin’s delight he was recruited to Towson University on a football scholarship. He was ironically placed with two amazingly blessed musicians named Jarius Swann, and Edwin Jacobs. Jarius could play any instrument you put in front of him, produce, and write music with great ability. Edwin had an astounding voice, and knew a large amount about music in general. They worked on various projects together but the connection was cut short when, due to unforeseen circumstances, Kelvin had to move back to Pittsburgh. Having to move back to Pittsburgh seemed to be a very disappointing time in Kelvin’s life but soon proved to be beneficial. Kelvin’s father became employed as an accountant for the Cardiovascular Institute of the University of Pittsburgh which enabled Kelvin to transfer and attend the University of Pittsburgh free of charge. Though God made it that his football career was put on hold, Pitt was where he got his first taste of making large public appearances in the entertainment and performance arena, and has been in love ever since. Kelvin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s Business School in December of 2006 with a 3.0 q.p.a and a degree in Business Finance. Kelvin is currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration degree with a Finance concentration, and has to maintain a 3.5 q.p.a in order to keep his graduate scholarship. His primary motivations for further pursuing his education was the birth of his second daughter Aniya who is one year old, and his desire to show both daughters how important education (by whatever way it's obtained) is to succeed in life. Some of Kelvin’s musical influences include Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Usher, Robin Thicke, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendegrass, Luther Vandross, R. Kelly, The Miracles, The Temptations, Michael Jackson and several other artists.
