Hey, I B Joby 1!
I'm basically just a breakbeat music enthusiast who enjoys mixing it up on the old one's and two's - and I'm getting into production in a big way too (thanks to the Mash Up Posse guys).
As a yung 'un I was spellbound by breakdancin' and Hip Hop and as I grew older and mutated, the music grew and mutated too. Hip Hop, Electro, Drum & Bass, Breakz, Hardcore Rave...I love it all and it's been my passion for longer than I can remember now...
In 2002 I recorded my first album...
"Noise Annoys" featured a wide variety of styles from Breakz to Progressive House.
At the time I was the DJ at "The Emporium" in Doncaster and I played mostly commercial dance so I wanted to make some music that would satisfy my lust for underground dance, The sort of stuff that I wouldn't be able to play in my DJ sets as I was getting bored and frustrated with the cheddar that I had to play out.
"Noise Annoys" has never been released. Infact it's fair to say that it's not even finished and probably never will be. I made it before I even got a PC. The entire album was made on a games console! However, Three tracks from the album were played on Radio 1, I came a runner up on their "Unsigned" competition. I signed a record deal off the back of that and released a couple of tracks from it too...
Here's what Radio 1 had to say...
"Is it 1987? It could well be when you're listening to "B Boy" which takes the old skool hip hop sounds of breaking and graffiti in New York, brings it to the UK, makes it grow up a bit, fuses it with the current breaks sound favoured by the Plump DJ's before squeezing it into a 7 minute long track."
"The Jokes On You" is funky Drum & Bass that packs a rolling sub bass-line and a very well put together beat..."
The album recieved a rating of 4/5 from Radio 1 listeners.
