Evan James is born and raised in the SF Bay Area and currently resides in San Francisco. Heavily influenced by the SF underground/party scene (Funky Tekno Tribe, Come Unity, Sunset) in the early 90's as a teenager, Evan fell in love with the SF brand of house and has been dj'ing and producing ever since. He first dabbled with MIDI on his Amiga as a kid, became hooked on house with DJ Dan's Weedwacker mixtape, was pivotal in the development of LiveDJs.com and Groovefactory.com, and is hard at work producing a new album in his studio. Evan's sound spans downtempo and chill out and swings way up the BPM dial to include genres like techno, hard/tribal/deep house. His goal as a DJ is simple - use every track like a chapter in a book to tell a story that takes his audience through a sonic journey.
As an MC, Evan (alias Skitzophonic) blends together his of love of house with hip hop creating cutting, poetic lyrical flows, and forming a fusion of both genres that knows no sonic limits.
This multi-faceted producer/remixer/mc/dj has played at various venues and clubs in SF, and abroad in Paris, Salzburg, Bali, and in 2007, Thailand's legendary full-moon party. His original debut was on Big Popsicle's Creamsicle EP released on vinyl in 2005.
