"Welcome to my fucking life."-- X-Mas in Hell.
That is a fitting statement to start of the Heroin Diaries. The book written by Motley Crue founding member Nikki Sixx, chronicling his heaviest heroin use between 1986-87. The book also spawned his new band Sixx:A.M., they preformed all the songs on the soundtrack to the novel. The other members in the band are DJ Ashba (lead guitar) and James Michael (vocals and rhythm guitar). The band made their live debut at Crash Mansion on July 16. They played five songs from the upcoming album, The Heroin Diaries. And the first single from the album was 'Life is Beautiful', it got a lot of radio airplay and reached number 12 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock list. They also have released 'Pray for Me' as the second single. 'The Heroin Diaries" has garnered critical acclaim such as: "a very eclectic album that has some songs you probably wouldn't expect from a guy who is in Motley Crue. There are plenty of hard rock tracks that are very melodic and catchy, including 'Life Is Beautiful,' which is one of the highlights, but also mellow ballads and songs that are epic and orchestral. Sixx provides narration throughout the album with short passages from the book, which really ties everything together." -about.com .
