About Me
Xinyu is not intimidated by the local music industry, she is relishing the challenge of making her mark in the rough-and-tumble world of dancehall reggae music.
Born in Hermitage, August Town, Xinyu has matured into a “divacious†young woman with big dreams and an even bigger voice, wowing audiences with her spunky determination and sheer joy for life. Naturally articulate, Xinyu quietly evolved from writing poetry to family and loved ones to writing emotionally charged songs inspired by lessons learned in life.Presently at the University of the West Indies, the Campion College High School Graduate, has the audacity not only to hope for, but to work very hard towards both a career in Medicine and a career as a Songwriter /Producer/Singer. Her aspirations to be a Surgeon and to be a serious contributor to the Musical Arts in Jamaica require exceptional time management and a team of family, friends and well-wishers behind her.Xinyu has been building up an excellent catalogue of music by consistently attending studio sessions. Her first song “Come Get It!†was produced by Bulby on an original rhythm featuring Sly and Robbie and Lenky. Since then some of her completed collaborations include “Man!†and “Clouded†produced by Richie Morgan of To-Isis. Other songs such as “Surrenderâ€, “Phenomenalâ€, “Get Over Him!â€, and “ No Fake Santa†have generated interest among local producers who have started sending beats her way.
Xinyu has already shot two music videos to help promote her work. The “Surrender†video was released September 2007 while the slamming single, “Man†was released in November 2007.To understand what drives Xinyu, one need only glance at her musical background. Xinyu became a member of The Little People and Teen Players Club in the Performing Arts at age 8 where she was exposed to drama, dance and singing. She performed at the Chinese New Year Garden Party, on interviews on “Smile Jamaica TVJâ€, Queens Borough Community concert, Hype TV “Up and Live†CDA Concert against Child Abuse, Teensplash at the James Bond Beach 2007.
