Watch what you say to someone with nothing. It's almost like having it all. -Todd Snider

About Me

I'm a professional (cough, cough) storyteller currently living along the front range of the Rocky Mountains.I was born in 1969 in a small town – Oshkosh – located up in the Dairyland. My family does not represent the Cleaver’s from Leave it to Beaver or the Nelson's from Ozzie and Harriet, but they're my family and I love them.As a kid I ate by color and smell so because of that I never once had a piece of gum (it came in too many colors and smelled kinda funny), however, I did manage to get a pretty good education growing up in the Badger state.I lived for a brief time – four months – in the Sunshine State. I really wanted to learn how to surf, but the fact that I don’t know how to swim sort of tempered my dreams and aspirations of becoming the next great Kahuna. It was then that I also realized I had no interest in swamps, retirement homes, hurricanes or even the afternoon rain showers that seem to take place on a daily basis, so I moved back to the Frozen Tundra and enjoyed a few more Friday night fish fries at a local supper club with my family.Even though Perch come from fresh water lakes you don’t have to actually know how to swim in order to eat them, so as you can imagine that worked out just fine. Then in the early Nineties I moved to Tinsel Town, where I spent five decadent years sharing a four-bedroom house with more than a dozen would-be, wanna-be rock stars as the sun finally set on the world’s most famous strip. Even so, we still managed to spend a lot of time traipsing the country in a Ryder truck peddling our tunes and swag from coast-to-coast.I have recently been scribbling some thoughts from time to time for a book – After the Sunset: InnerViews from the Boulevard of Broken Dreams – which is a collection of my conversations with real life rock stars, chronicling a carefree moment in time that forever changed the landscape of rock and roll.I’m not saying the “moment” I experienced firsthand was a profound or even prolific moment, but the moment made an undeniable impact nonetheless. In any case, I eventually left the City of Angels and moved to the Bible belt. Actually, to be honest and forthright, I moved to the buckle of the Bible belt. It is more commonly referred to as the Volunteer State, but – unfortunately – I have to admit that I never once volunteered for anything while living there. Can you say: Show me the money?Oh well, once I got there I earned, err, paid a lot of money for an advanced education from a state funded university and that is when I realized for the first time that I managed to get a “pretty good education growing up in the Badger state.”After four years they gave me a piece of paper that said I was smart and I guess a bunch of publications believed in that particular piece of paper because I wrote for all kinds of newspapers and magazines that were scattered around the land of the free and the home of the brave.I got to talk with lots of different people – more rock stars, some politicians and even a few Playboy playmates – and tell their stories as only I could tell them. I’m not saying I told the stories the only way they could be told, but instead what I’m trying to say is that I told them the only way I knew how.I even ended up with a multi-platinum album for a biography I wrote about a Redneck Woman. If you ask me a lot people accomplished a lot of great things for the whole experience to be summed up with a wall hanging that measures slightly more than 17 inches by 21 inches.I wonder if she called called her mom and said, "Look at me! I sold almost five million albums. I'm going to Disneyland."Maybe not, but I do need to go and dust off the top of that frame. I always seem to forget about that.Somehow I even became a member of the Country Music Association - a voting member of the annual CMA Awards, no less.Hmm... I wonder if they know about my dart board and the infamous blindfold? Probably not, so I hope nobody starts any rumors on the Internet(s).That said, one of my editors back in Music City, U.S.A., even said I had a unique perspective of the world around me. And, yes, he meant that as a compliment. Then one day I interviewed a nice man and wrote a story about him, but it never got published. He was my boss and we produced and directed television programs – cloudlandtv.com – so I guess he must not have been too sore at me about the article not running.Let’s just say we know a thing or two about what is sexy... in other words, we were the ones responsible for bring sexy back. Not that Justin guy. What's his name? Timbaland? Timberlake?OK, whether it was by land or high seas, perhaps it wasn't us.But we were responsible for some of the mindless programming you watch on the boob tube. That’s what middle aged men in the Midwest call a TV and, no, it doesn’t have anything to do with a woman’s physical feature. On second thought, depending on what you're watching, maybe it does but that’s beside the point. In any case, after 15 years of playing a small part in the entertainment world I've made a change and began focusing more on athletics.Earlier this year – after a decade of living in Nashville and earning a lot of air miles flying back and forth from Los Angeles – I relocated to Colorado, where I'm now writing about professional bull riding (or, as we like to call it, the toughest sport on dirt). That's right: our sport can beat up your sport... so deal with it! Oh, and one more thing you need to know, we're not some damn rodeo! And, for the record, no, I have not ridden a bull. I don't have to ride a bull nor do I want to ride one. I'm merely a desk jockey who writes about the Top 45 bull riders in the world. In fact, my only experience with animals is that I like dogs, I know a few people who own cats and I once had a goldfish named Lynn Dickey, but he died so my mom and I flushed him down the toilet (which is pretty much where the Packers season ended up back when the real Mr. Dickey was the quarterback). In addition to covering the PBR on a daily basis – www.pbrnow.com – I've also started writing about various Olympic sports as well, namely the U.S. Figure Skating Team. Yeah, that's right, bull riding and figure skating! They might seem worlds apart and neither sport would probably admit to it, but they do have some similarities when it comes to the focus, drive and determination of being a world class athlete.Well, that is me in a nut shell and just in case you were wondering, no, I still have yet to ever have a piece of gum and I'll probably never learn how to swim (at this point in my life the only surfing I'll ever do is on the Internet), but hopefully I can have a second home in the Big Apple. ____________________________________________________________ __________________________QUOTES ABOUT ME"(Interviews) have always been a big part of what I do--trying to make some kind of nonsense out of it...so I appreciate what ever you can do and take care brother." --George Clinton (and the Paraliment Funkadelic)"I felt like we had a true conversation (and) I want to compliment you and hope that you take it sincerely. It's getting rarer and rarer and rarer so thank you and please stay around for a long, long time. I was married to a great journalist so, believe me, I know the difference." --Michelle Shocked (singer / songwriter)"I'm gonna sue you, your editor and that half-assed magazine for a million dollars each. Your story sucked." --Steve Lukather (guitarist, Toto)"I don't care what you write because you can't write all that bad for me. You're going after my art. (laughing) You gotta be one weird dude." --Chuck Barris (host, The Gong Show)"You're a fuckin' pussy and that's why you did this interview over the telephone. There's no way in hell you'd ever have the balls to ask that question if you were sitting across a table from me because you know damn well I'd break your fuckin' neck." --Evan Seinfeld (singer, Biohazard)"There's not many journalists that get it. You're one of the few." --Violent J (rapper, Insane Clown Posse)"Talking with keith is always a good time. Maybe it's because he's worked with musicians all his life, but he's always at ease and has a way of making people feel comfortable around him. Well, there's also the fact that he called me a legend in one of his stories." --the late Merle Kilgore (singer / songwriter / manager) ____________________________________________________________ __________________________CURRENT PUBLICATIONSwww.pbrnow.com Professional Bull Rider (international magazine) Skating (international magazine) Post and Courier (daily newspaper / Charleston, SC) ____________________________________________________________ __________________________FILMOGRAPHY / CREDITSThe Next Great American Band; FOX; 2007; Associate Producer; 19 EntertainmentMusic City, USA (documentary); 2007; Producer / Director / Writer; Autumn AddictCountry Music Across America; GAC; 2007; Segment Writer; Travis TelevisionSexiest Videos of 2006; CMT; 2006; Co-Producer / Writer; Cloudland FilmworksGreatest Moments Hank Williams Jr.; CMT; 2006; Co-Producer / Writer; Cloudland Filmworks20 Sexiest Southern Women / Men; CMT; 2006; Co-Producer / Writer; Cloudland FilmworksGreatest Moments Shania Twain; CMT; 2006; Co-Producer / Writer; Cloudland Filmworks20 Sexiest Videos of 2005; CMT; 2005; Co-Producer; Cloudland FilmworksBuck Wild (docu-soap / unaired); 2005; Associate Producer / Director; Cloudland Filmworks20 Greatest Cowboy Songs; CMT; 2005; Co-Producer; Cloudland Filmworks20 Greatest Bands; CMT; 2005; Co-Producer; Cloudland Filmworks20 Sexiest Women; CMT; 2004; Co-Producer; Cloudland Filmworks20 Sexiest Men; CMT; 2004; Co-Producer; Cloudland FilmworksGreatest Road Trips; CMT; 2004; Co-Producer; Cloudland FilmworksCountry Music Across America; GAC; 2004; Segment Writer; Travis TelevisionTennessee Roads: The Melonie Cannon Story; GAC; 2004; Producer / Director / Writer; CollectiveWe Love These Bars; CMT; 2004; Associate Producer / Writer; Cloudland FilmworksXS (pilot only); 2003; Co-Creator / Producer; Collective

I'd like to meet:

People I don't already know. Isn't that the point of meeting people? I thought so. I could very well be wrong about that, however, I really don't believe I'm wrong in thinking that way.It just doesn't make sense to me that you would meet someone you've already met. Then again, you could possibly "meet up" with someone you already met, but I'm certain that's different than meeting someone. So just to clear things up: if I haven't already met you I'd like to meet you, but if we've already met then I'm not opposed to meeting up with you again.
