Indra Perkasa was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 25, 1983. His first experience in music was at the age 12, when he joined the Mandarava Corps Marching Band, playing Baritone horn. At the age 17, he decided to get a electric bass course at Farabi, with Adi Noval and Adi Darmawan.
In 2001, Indra Perkasa continued his study at Institut Musik Daya. As suggested by the principal of Institut Musik Daya, Tjut Nyak Deviana Daudsjah, Indra decided to study the Double Bass with Karoline Hoefler, Patrick O’Leary, and Peter Scherr. During this period, he studied contemporary music, focusing on classic and jazz. At that time, most of his music activities were come from the school. He joined DAYA Big Band; played with Deviana Daudsjah at Indonesia Open Jazz, play a regular gig and jam session at Club 45 with IndraAziz Quintet.
In 2003, Indra and his friend (Adra, Nikita, Zulham) got a regular gig at Aksara Book store kemang and form a band called Tomorrow People Ensemble.
Not only performing on stage as a band, Indra also do some “backstage†work. Back on 2003, Indra Perkasa and his friends made a drama musical Malin Kundang, as a part of school project. He was charged as a Dramaturque and composed 2 songs for the musical. In 2005-2006, Indra work as a copyist and Assistant Music Director Aksan Sjuman for film “Apa Artinya Cinta†and “Heartâ€. He also played in the film scoring of “Berbagi Suamiâ€.
In 2006, Indra earned his Master Degree of Music from Institut Musik Daya,and recently (2008) he just finished his study at UCLA Extension majoring on Film Scoring.
