About Me

I'm a Dj who spins Hip-Hop, Funk, Reggae, and Soul. Never one to be put in a box I've worked my entire career at being a well-rounded DJ be it in clubs, on mixtapes, as a Turntabilist, or on radio. I am the resident deejay for the Edutainment Hip Hop Show on WUTK 90.3 on Saturday nights and served as the Hip Hop music director at the station during my undergrad days. I've been spinning for over eight years now and have played opening spots for artists such as People Under the Stairs, Cesar Comanche, AWOL One, 2nd String, Fluid Engineerz, Supastition, and Lord Subliminal as well as others. I am the Hip Hop music reviewer for The Weekly Hangover and am proud to be once again working with UT's finest publication. I am the resident/creator of Old City Java's "Black & Mild" weekly which was a night designed for beat heads and general fans of soul and hip hop music in a relaxed setting which will soon be relaunching (details are coming soon!!). During my time in Knoxville I have played at the Kuumba festival, held residencies at Hanna's and the World Grotto, and play often with the Black Sunshine Poetry Team. I have recently returned to TN after a brief relocation to Honolulu, HI where I had the pleasure of working with a number of weekly events, ran HNL Hip Hop.com, released my Fall 2008 mix and even saw a little commercial radio air time on KIKI 93.9. My selections generally consist of a balanced blend of early 90's classics alongside newer true school joints. You will hear a good amount of reggae, soul, and funk infused into the mix as well depending on the time and place. Quality music is always the bottom line.
