Oil Filter (aka Gonçalo Vinha) is one of the pioneers of the electronic music scene in Brazil and a great reference for the new incomers. “Gods & Gasoline†is his second full artist album, following his sold out first album ( “Revoltinâ€, 2004) and various singles and EP..s, released through different Brazilian and International labels.
Over the last decade, Oil Filter has toured throughout several countries, including Portugal, Belgium, Germany, United States (WMC – Miami), Argentina , Chile and Brazil and has built a solid career in the prestigious worldwide electronic music scene.
The new album ,“Gods & Gasoline†is the result of those experiences and offers a slice of his dark, mechanical, industrial, electronic melodic house trademark , blended with beautiful chilled tracks, guitars and a passion and love for cars and musical technology.
“Gods & Gasoline†was conceived and created in the autumn / winter, while the debut album was done and released in summer. So, says Oil Filter: “The album Gods & Gasoline is less dark and more influenced by the hot and sunny days of the city of São Paulo – Brazil. . “Robot Hero†was actually written while I was flying over the ocean with the sun shining on the water, and encapsulates that feeling of optimism and happinessâ€. While some artists might find it hectic putting together an album with so much going on, Oil Filter thrives on the inspiration he finds in his two bases – São Paulo Montek01 Studio and hotel rooms – and also gigs everywhere in between. “One thing depends on the other – playing for an energetic crowd makes me feel excited and kicks off the creative process of getting in the studio. When I..m at the studio, I can..t wait to play what I am producing and seeing the people..s reactions to it – it..s an addictive self feeding process and I love I ! “â€
The album kicks off with “Velocity Life†, a reference of one of his all time favourite records “This track is really special for me, it is dedicated to my father, a speed lover and a professional car racing driver since my first daysâ€. Other highlights include “D.Y.F.†with additional remix by DJ and producer Roger Drummel, “Champagne Lovers†with DJ and producer Dukka Calliery and my son - special guest and voice on “Glass (Universal Child)†the chill out tracks are cyberculture influenced, mid tempo ballad. “An artist album is very different to a mixed CD – a mix snapshot of what you..re playing at that time, while an artist album is a bigger expression of what..s inside yourself artistically speaking , so it..s amazing to watch the crowd react to your own creationsâ€, says Oil Filter.

“When I grew up, listening to music had a huge influence on me, and built the basis for who I am today, so when I make my own music I do it with the listener in mind and try and recreate that one feeling I..ve always had. It..s something that gets you through hard times, is a soundtrack that take you to good times, and touches you in a very special unique way. I..m really proud of this album, and I hope people will love it as much as I do..
Since I started in 1989, I have always been committed to play and produce electronic music.
I am honoured and pleased to dedicate this work especially to my Big Father (aka Carlos Vinha) in memorian! Rest in peace… MY SON Christopher , MY LOVE Tati and all Vinha..s Family!
Thank you for all your support during this life journey …
… and to Brazilian Electro pioneers, DJs Magal and MauMau … and of course to Front 242 … who have influenced my work through their beats.
Much Respect!
Go ahead and keep the faith!"
