OUS!!!! To one and all, My name is Jose a.k.a Dark Angel. I'm a student of the martial arts; I’ve being training in the arts since I was 11 years old. Tae Know Do for 2 years and some kenpo karate For 1 year, All so I did a little Hun Gar Kung Fu back in the days. I'm now 48 years old and still doing Martial Arts this time it's Shotokan Karate. My Sensei are Shihan Kai Leung and Sensei Bernard Clemons, Of the Shotokuju Dojo. They’re more than Instructor's or Sensei to me; they’re my friends for life.

Now let me tell you a little bit about my sensei. Since the early 1970's, Shihan Kai Leung had been involved in teaching Martial arts to others. Shihan originally started teaching in Manhattan and when he moved to Queens New York, taught at his high school karate club, becoming the president and head instructor. He later taught at Long Island University's karate instructor certificate program for more then fifteen years. From 1976 to 1978, he founded and taught at the Whitestone Dojo. From 1978 to 1982, he became the assistant instructor for Master Toyotaro Miyazaki's Tokutai Dojo in Flushing New York. For over fifteen years of Karate competitions, Shihan made a name for him self as a tournament Champion and with years of experience, created many champions. Shihan has seen and helped generations of his students become successful leaders and role models.

And now Sensei Bernard Clemons is an outstanding Karate and Kobudo practitioner, and a good friend. Not only is he a career martial artist, but is also one of the top weapon experts in the country. Sensei Clemons studied for many years, developed into an excellent instructor of the martial arts. He has also won many grand championships with his weapon katas. Having been a dedicated student and a loyal assistant to Shihan for many years, Sensei Clemons assist Shihan every day in running of the shotojuku dojo and is also in charge of our Kobudo program.
