Biography
It all started an ordinary day at school. The friends Tobias and Ida came up with the idea of starting a band. "Hey dude, maybe we should start a band?" Sandra was quick to join as a bass guitarist. The last one to join, believe it or not, was Dearest Sofie, whom Tobias knew from before. So, during the Easter holidays 2006 the band played together for the first time. As the band sat in the basement, not really knowing what to play, Sofie took up her precious folder with some songs she had written and Alice was played for the first time. Worthy of mentioning is Fredrik, Sofie’s older brother who wrote the text. Thank you for that!
Excited over the band Sofie came up with a new song, and soon came the first gig: a neighbour garden party in Björkekärr, Gothenburg. Two songs were played and as the name wasn’t set yet the band performed under a name that some boy came up with. It was something like "Kattmamma" (Cat Mother). After that the choice of a name was on top of the To-do list. Although many other horrible names were discussed, like "Sofie & frikadellerna" (in english it would be something like "Sofie & the meat balls") But suddenly, after a nice summer, just in time for the second gig, the name Dearest Blake came up from nowhere and the official band name was settled.
After several gigs and almost a year of progress, in January 2007, Dearest Blake participated in Musik Direkt. Whitout any luck in the competition, although a very good performance, the band won another prize.. In Laidies on Tour 2007 Dearest Blake represented Västra Götaland, since they’re a freakin’ good band with more than 50% girls. This was very fun for Tobias with his long hair, which was soon to be cut off. =P
Many things could and should be written here at this so called biography...
Something about the first foreign gig, in Bornholm, Denmark maybe. When I think we all learned a little something. That Tequila and Liquorice shots should be taken in modest amounts; that Danes can not be trusted with your instruments within reach; and that the drink called Filur is a God’s gift to the people (not even a hang-over man!) Maybe the most true fan of Dearest Blake should also be montioned, Ida’s father who has almost never missed a gig, not even when he had pneumonia! That Blake under a period was missing a bass guitarist.
...But since the hour is getting really late and I’m getting freakin’ tired I’ll think I’ll just stop here. Over and out!
