Teen Fuck Explosion

Teen Fuck Explosion were formed in Stuttgart, Germany in 1998 by Yvonne Cherrybomb and Zuri Caligula Flesh in a drunken haze. Yvonne told Zuri she was a singer while Zuri claimed he was a guitarist. They were both lying - in reality they had never attempted to play or sing before. Zuri asked his then-girlfriend Yvy (later vocalist in THE HEROINES) to teach him a few power chords on her guitar. With this rudimentary knowledge, he made it through the first rehearsal and wrote about 40 songs in the next few weeks. Zuri and Yvonne recruited Viola on stand-up bass; it was impossible to hear her instrument through the distorted guitar noise, though it was probably better that way. Herby Hustler (then also in MOTORPUSSY) joined on drums. The band played their first gig roughly three weeks after forming, their utterly incompetent racket earning them the collective contempt of the audience, save a couple of freaks and misfits who became the band's hard-core followers and achieved local notoriety as the Teen Fuck SS (=Teen Fuck Sewer Sluts). A demo was recorded, but the band never bothered to actually release it. The peak of their brief career must be their trip to 1999's Pentecote Garage Rock Big Blast in Paris where Teen Fuck Explosion went on stage uninvited and grabbed another band's instruments to play a set of three songs before being stopped by the venue's bouncers. Fisticuffs between the band and local punters erupted later that night, Yvonne managing to break a Parisian bully's nose with her bare knuckles in the process. Teen Fuck Explosion split in 2000 when Zuri decided to move to London, UK while Herby emigrated to the USA. Yvonne teamed up with Yvy and formed Hellacopters/Turbonegro inspired rock'n'roll band THE HEROINES. They released an album called 'Groupie' and even toured with the Backyard Babies before the girls fell out with each other and went their own separate ways. Yvy formed the POPZILLAS while Yvonne soldiered on with various line-ups of the Heroines for a while, putting out one more album entitled 'Hurts So Good'. In 2007, Yvonne decided to leave Germany too and headed for Auckland, New Zealand. After brief stints in various London outfits, Zuri formed BUBBLEGUM SCREW in June 2006, a glam punk band dedicated to the sound and energy of 1970s New York punk of the Johnny Thunders/Dead Boys variety. The band have just released their first EP and are currently building a reputation as London's most explosive live act. Herby (aka Roman) is currently playing with an increasingly popular Seattle powerpop/glam rock outfit named THE GREATEST HITS. Not much is known about Viola's wherabouts.
