About Me

What can I say, I'm a recovering pessimist with the occasional urge to DISSECT and UNDERSTAND it ALL, but the forsight to know I'll only get so far before my time is up. And also, as I've aged, I've started to learn more about that whole, "Stop & smell the roses" thing. It's funny how taking pleasure in the simple things can give you twinges of contentment.... hmmm... I'm also random, but intuitive--which means that even though I often lack common sense, there will still be times when I can see straight into your soul! I love history cuz I'm a FREAK about wanting to know the ORIGINS of things. I dig contemplating and analyzing, connecting, throwing ideas back & forth... pigging out on Thai food & watching a good movie... getting carried away by the music... So if I've successfully sparked your interest, I hope to hear from you, and if not, I'm happy you at least made it to the end of my paragraph. Bye now! =]

My Interests

I loooove to dance in a crowd full of people doing the same... sweet euphoria... Ummm.... I dig doing anything with Photoshop or Illustrator. I love history--especially stuff like cultural anthropology and "strange" history. I like cooking--yes, very domestic of me. =] I luuuuv movies--another passion of mine--yes, I AM a geek--haven't you figured that out yet??--wait til you get to my favorite movies! I used to work at a video store and I LOVED givin' my opinions about films--it was the perfect outlet for that! =]

I'd like to meet:

Just about anyone... so long as you don't have devious intentions. =]

Music:

K, I can't sleep tonight, so here goes... in no particular order.... U2, Violente Femmes, Depeche Mode, Prince (a musical genius--I don't care what anyone else says!), Elvis, Cat Stevens (when his music was inspiring), Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tommy James & the Shondells, Neil Diamond, Alison Krauss, Yaz, Usher, Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles, Mary J. Blige, Maroon 5, Guns N' Roses, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Black Eyed Peas, Johnny Cash, Willy Nelson, Billy Bragg & Wilco, David Bowie, Doors, Velvet Underground, Janis Joplin ("Get it, want it, hold it, need it... get it while you can!"--you go girl), Creedance Clearwater, Rolling Stones, Joan Biaz, Mamas & the Papas, Simon & Garfunkle (don't get me started), Sonny & Cher (they were wunnerful together--"I gotchu babe!"), Enya, Space, Arrowsmith, Queen, ABBA, Cyndi Lauper (STILL rocks! I luv that woman), NIN, Radiohead, Jet ("Are you gonna be my girl?" Grrrrrrrr---sure) ;), Elastica, Prodigy, Billy Idol, Underworld, INXS, Roxette, Lunasa (Irish music), Kill Bill Stk, Frieda Stk, Moulin Rougue Stk, songs from Disney movies, Beatles (duh, like I'd leave them out!), Mahalia Jackson (gospel singer from the 30s), DAH BLUES, alota retro stuff.... oh hell! I'm so eclectic--if it sounds good, I'll stick it in my CD player and enjoy it over & over.... like that "Crimson & Clover" song. =]

Movies:

Once again--in no particular order... The new KING KONG!!, Labyrinth, (Jim Henson was THE MAN!), Lost Boys, Kill Bill 1&2, Pulp Fiction (Quentin--dah master of nostalgic & stylistic filmaking--& he always has a killer ear for good music), Strictly Ballroom, Romeo & Juliet (1997), Moulin Rouge, Never Ending Story, ET, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish (and pretty much ANYTHING Tim Burton--he rocks!!!), Ferris Beuler's Day Off, 9 to 5, Flesh + Blood, Lord of the Rings trilogy, original Star Wars trilogy, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Footloose (I'm a sucker for 80s nostalgia), Bedazzled, Petshop of Horrors (anime series), Matrix trilogy, American Beauty, Gladiator, Braveheart, Peter Pan (2004), Willow, Meet the Parents (one of the funniest movies ever made), Saving Silverman, Interview Wtih the Vampire (I love reading Anne Rice books too--she's a guilty pleasure of mine), Benny & Joon, Welcome Home Roxy Charmicle, Steele Magnolius, Beaches (tear), Terms of Endearment (K, now I'm bawling!!), Sandlot, Hello Dolly, Singin' in the Rain, Kiss Me Kate, Streetcar Named Desire ("Steeeeeellaaaaaaa!"), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof..... & many more... =]

Television:

LOST--I am a total LOST junkie--the most original show to hit the air in a long time!!!! I also like The Simpsons, Malcom In the Middle (2 of the most hilarious shows on telelvision!), History channel, Sci Fi channel (when it's not B-movie crap--I DID like that Dune series they had on), CSI, E! True Hollywood Stories, Cold Case Files...

Books:

I don't have a long list of authors & titles cuz I'm better at remembering concepts & ideas than names & titles. I have had a weakness for Anne Rice novels in the past. She has a gift for taking you places and totally involving you in her characters & their thought processes & philosophies... But if I read more than 2 or 3 of her books in a row--it puts me in a very dark place--so I try to leave a lot of time in between. I also like books that support the idea of the Bible being written by a divine hand--with intelligence & credibility. I like books on cultural history, interesting biographies, books about strange phenomena, psychology articles & books (The really informative ones--not the ones bogged down with a bunch of incomprehensable psycho-babble)--cuz we're such fascinating creatures!... & anything else that catches my fancy.

Heroes:

The insanity of codependency

So I tried to help a friend today... turns out she didn't want help. Why do people stay in situations that they know are ruining their lives, yet they refuse to leave? Why would they betray those who ...

I just watched a movie tonight (well it's really more of a filmed stage play) called "Dogville."... the kind of story that makes you feel like you should lose your faith in humanity. Its about the in...
