Jo Nystrom was born as Josée Truchon in a french canadian town, Matane, in the province of Quebec, Canada. From an early age, she revealed a zest for show business and music. The fourth of five children, she was the only one bitten by the performing bug. Her introspective and inquisitive nature led her to sample many types of music on her own, and this desire to explore new and different styles kept her outlook fresh and her musical ear sharp.
Over the years, Jo's artistic talent was reflected in many aspects of art. Beside singing in all the shcools of her hometown, she became a professional figure skater, a professional ballroom dancer. She was also a member of many jazz dance troupes and a member of a professional classical choir. However, her true love affair was always with song.
Her photogenic good looks helped launch her into the world of modeling, and she did extensive work for hair salons as well as other clients. After leaving her native Matane, she found steady photo session work in the nearby city of Rimouski as well as in Montreal, and became a familiar face in leading magazines such as Clin d'oeil, Elle Quebec, and Coiffure.
She finally started her professional career as a singer joining a band and paid her dues in the rigorous world of live club performing. She also recorded many radio and television commercial jingles for well-known companies like Pepsi, Jeans Companies, etc.
In 1997, Jo moved in Montreal and met Jeff Nystrom with whom she wrote her first and second album. Over the next years, she also played as an actress in many tv commercials, movies and television series as well as modeling for magazines and stage modeling.
After 2 nominations for 2 awards at l'Adisq, many tours and TV shows, with also an important contract with a major label, Jo moved with her husband Jeff Nystrom and their family in Nashville, TN, where she is working on her new country album.
