Suzy Wills Yaraei is ridiculously passionate about God. It's the kind of passion that's infectious, that seeps into the pores and comes out as music, as movement. Listening to Suzy's CD's it's obvious that this is not the tepid worship of casual encounters; Suzy and her band are after something far more radically intimate and raw and...rocking.
A former professional singer who toured with acts like Reba McEntire and Wynonna Judd and showed up on major television shows like Letterman and The Tonight Show, Suzy lived up to the status quo of the road, spending rough years away from God. When she was finally confronted with the power of the Holy Spirit, she was forever changed, ruined, in a way, never contented to stay quiet about God's goodness. And she's been loud about God all over the world: from Brazil and North America to Russia and Germany and places in between.
Suzy's sound has constantly been evolving, thanks in large part to working with amazingly skilled and creative musicians such as James Duke, Andy Kurzweg, Al Sergel, Molly Williams, Paulette Wooten, Josh Baldwin, Luke Skaggs, Andrew Williams, Bruce Norris, Jesse Proctor and many more. In many ways, the songs on her CD, Shining, sprang from the community that was created on the road and the many varied worship experiences. Guitarist and Co-Producer James Duke remarked: "Most of these songs have pieces of the world in them. They should. They have been played all over the world. I can hear ten thousand German feet jumping up and down when I hear Dance. I can hear a sea of Brazilian worshippers singing along when we play Falling Into Your Passion. Russia is singing along when Suzy sings Burn With You. These songs were born in America, but they grew up in the nations as road tested songs of faith and devotion."
On Suzy's recent electronic release, Spin, Suzy takes a journey with producer Joel Khouri into more electronics and moving sounds evoking mystery and a powerful urge to dance and worship in fresh new ways. Put it on, turn it up and let yourself go!
Stay tuned for her upcoming 2008 release. This will be her best one yet. A compilation of the last 3 years of live worship from MorningStar Conferences including many of her new songs already heard all over the world.
Suzy's main desires are to see the church worship God with freedom and abandon, and to encourage the next generation of radical worshippers to live lives of uncompromising integrity. She currently resides in Moravian Falls, North Carolina with her husband Kamran. In her spare time she likes to give herself pedicures, make journals, and sing jazz.[LOVEMYFLASH]
