About Me

I have been singing professionally since I was 14. I learned that I could sing while in Catholic school. The nuns heard me sing and learned I played guitar and well the rest is history. I quietly was singing in clubs and private parties while attending Catholic school. I was one of the original members of City Kidd, who later became Tesla. I have had rock n' roll bands, R n' B bands, and country bands throughout my career and I ended up moving to Nashville in 1999. Though I have always been a songwriter, I did not realize that I was supposed to concentrate on my writing career until I moved here and was told that I should continue to write as my songs have touched peoples' lives. I moved to Nashville to sing. However, I arrived in Nashville learning that it takes a blend of musicianship, skill, writing and vocal talent and a whole lot of luck to move forward. I like where I am standing and have branched into the radio aspect of music here in Nashville occasionally co-hosting the Third Coast Music show on WAKM 950 on Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. We do Live remotes mainly various locations in Franklin like Puckett's. My favorite local spots to play are Puckett's, Bluebird Cafe and Monell's in Franklin and Gary's Place in Spring Hill. My favorite out town spot is Hapas in Maui, HI and anywhere in my hometown of Sacramento, CA. I have opened for many artists including, Tanya Tucker, Billy Ray Cyrus, John Berry, Lee Greenwood, Mel McDaniels, Billy Dean, Paul Overstreet, and Holly Dunn to name a few. The most thrilling of those was in California opening for Paul Overstreet and Billy Dean to a crowd of 25,000 people singing my songs! It was hot outside and we were on an island with water in front of the stage...the people came alive and I was hooked!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.colleenlloy.com
Band Members: For now just myself, I plan on eventually putting together another band just like I had in California.
Influences: Pat Benatar.
Janis Joplin.
Ann Wilson.
Martina McBride.
Melissa Etheridge.
Other than famous people Sister Mary Magdalene from my highschool kept on pushing me to sing. I was driven to teach myself how to sing and play guitar.
Sounds Like: Thankfully I have been blessed with the talent of sounding like anyone I choose to sound like by studying their voice. All of the women I listed above I can sound just like. Other than that, I sound like myself, which for the longest time I had no clue I had my own sound. After my first recording "Sooner or Later" which was aired on radio, I was told by many people they liked "my sound." The proceeds from the sale of the Hometown II Album went to Mother's Against Drunk Drivers. It was then that I realized that it was better to be unique and do my own thing, but when I feel like having a little fun, I slip back into a little "Me and Bobby McGee" to get the crowd going. Click on my videos or go to youtube and look me up, you can be the judge on if I sound like them.

Youre Gonna Fly

I met Mr. and Mrs. Dave Krantz last night at Monell's.  Usually when 8:30 rolls around, I am ready to go home as I typically play for 3 1/2 hours straight.  Last night was an exception....
