============================================== WORCESTER, MASS. EDDIE MCGEE (JULY 27, 1944 to OCTOBER 22, 2004)....EDDIE MCGEE'S LEGACY - ON RECORD: Local rock and roll legendEDDIE MCGEE (best known for the band THE BUGS) died in 2004 in anunfortunate accident, leaving behind not only a lot of grieving fans andfamily, but remnants of his studio recordings. JAMES WRIGHT (goodfriend of Eddie's) took it upon himself to preserve and collect the musiche left behind.JAMES WRIGHT(PROJECT DIRECTOR), says he's managed to compilethe contents of two computers full of Eddie's work with country group,THE BLACKJACK BAND, and also reel-to-reel of live gigs spanning thetwo-decade run of THE BUGS.Wright adds that he's compiling professional studio work of Eddie's,spanning his entire career that starts in the early 1960s. In 2002, infact, he and Eddie had formed a partnership to hit the music industryonce again, recording a few originals at TOWER RECORDINGS. Thesesongs are presently being turned over to LONG VIEW FARM RECORDINGSTUDIOS. In 2003, Eddie's talent was featured on a Christmascompilation. All of these recordings, Wright feels, need to be shared with notonly the community of Worcester, but with the entire music world.Wright also began to write Eddie's amazing life story three years ago,and it is nearing completion. This, he said, most likely will be turnedinto a musical screenplay. "Since I was unable to express myappreciation for Eddie's importance in my life due to his suddendeath, " he said, "my way of thanking him for all of his support andfriendship is to keep his spirit alive by making this dream of his areality for me." ============================================== ==============================================STAY TUNED FOR EDDIE MCGEE'S WORKS IN 2008 GOD, I've worked hard to get here! But it is not the final destination! NO! NOT AT ALL! Living this passion sometimes defies explanation, or definition, or control. LORD GOD, how I struggle with YOUR SPIRIT! If that is sin, please forgive me, but if it is not, then bless me in this holy struggle. I know Eddie's music comes from somewhere or someone beyond me. You are always there, on the outside, on the inside. Always! YOU accept me, even though I used to think I could never be good enough for YOU. GOD, I play Eddie's songs! I've always played Eddie's songs! I love the way certain poignant melodic lines, or sinous harmonic movement, or familiar words about private experiences can carry us away. I love the beauty that thrills me and makes my eyes fill with tears. And I love taking people on that journey. When I play Eddie's songs and my audience trusts me to take them to that level and be responsible for their emotional safety, I soar to the highest of sacred places. It's so close to YOU, GOD, sometimes I think it is YOU! GOD, we need these experiences! We need that closeness, that intimacy, that oneness. I promise to be honest about everything, GOD. I am an open book. A pane of clear glass. Read me. See into my soul. When I play Eddie's music let his voice be carried by the wind till he can be heard in your KINGDOM....THANK YOU....JAMES WRIGHT ============================================== ============================================== Eddie McGee was raised and educated in the small town of Northboro, Massachusetts, which is situated in Worcester County. ============================================== Eddie told me of his close to death encounters which had their beginnings the day he was born. The intern who delivered him on the day he was born, dropped him headfirst onto the hospital floor, causing Eddie to receive a skull fracture in the first few minutes of life. Unfortunately, the hospital wasn't equipped to handle an injury of this type and they had no ambulance to transport Eddie to a Boston hospital for treatment. Eddie's Irish father and Italian grandmother provided the transportation to Boston Floating Hospital in his fathers own vehicle. Eddie's flight to safety was rudely interruped when his father's car collided with another vehicle on the way to Boston. Eddie laughingly explained to me how his grandmother started screaming every vulgar, truck driver cuss word in Italian at the people involved in the accident. Eddie's father managed to calm down the grandmother and explained to the police officer what had happened and that they were on a mission of mercy, trying to keep his newborn son alive. =================================================It became apparent throughout Eddie's life that fate would deal many blows to Eddie's life that would cause him to have to battle for his place in this mortal world. Eddie recalled to me a time when he was fifteen years old, he and two friends decided to hitchhike in seeking an adventure. A man in a pickup truck pulled over to the shoulder on the highway and offered the three boys a ride. There wasn't enough room in the cab so the driver told them to hop into the back of the truck. The young teenagers hopped in and were enjoying the ride until the truck hit a large pothole while traveling at a high rate of speed and as fate would have it, Eddie was ejected from the back of the truck. The driver stopped the vehicle quickly and Eddie's two friends jumped out of the truck and raced to where Eddie was laying. ================================================A physician ordered that Eddie have a CAT scan done on his head and this test revealed that he had a large brain tumor that had wrapped itself around his left ear drum. The physician sent him to Mass General Hospital and to a noted brain surgeon to see if the tumor could be removed. Although the surgeon was concerned about the operation, he told Eddie that he would like to try and remove the tumor because it was pressing against his brain, hoping to relieve the horrific headaches. Eddie confided in me that this was an extremely dark time in his life. ============================================== The only thing the band, THE BUGS, lacked was a bass guitar player, which left Eddie in a quandary but not for long. Rose, Eddie's wife, was working at the time as a waitress at a restaurant situated in Framingham. Rose was unaware that Eddie was determined to bring her fame of her own. Eddie told me that he asked her to leave her job and join the band as their bass player. This was another Eddie shock to Rose, she didn't know how to play but she decided to follow him again into what she considered another one of his nutty schemes. ============================================== THE BUGS appeared on the television show, Community Auditions, a program that featured unknown performer in a competitive showcase. Unfortunately, the band lost to a ballerina and they were very disappointed with the outcome. Seeing as how THE BUGS had always dressed outrageously while performing, maybe in that instance, perhaps they should have performed as THE BUGS wearing tutu's. ============================================== THE BUGS single, "PRETTY GIRL" charted throughout the country and it was a huge hit in Worcester. The song went to No. 1 in Maine, No. 3 in Florida and Chicago, No. 4 in San Francisco, and No 8 in Los Angeles. ============================================== THE BLACKJACK BAND consisted of just three stable players. Eddie was the lead guitarist and vocalist with Eric Phillips on bass guitar and Ray Devault on the drums. Ray Devault's mother was a local country singer, Miss Anita, and she would make special singing appearance with the band. ============================================== THE BLACKJACK BAND added their own special twist to country music, making their style unique and vastly different than the other local bands. They added a bounce to their music and it hustled them into the public eye. With Eddie as their lead guitarist and with his expertise from having played music since 1963, this country band flourished. ============================================== After the doctor gave Eddie an eye test, the doctor fitted him with new prescription glasses. When he put the new glasses on, Eddie was amazed. He looked at me, grinned and said, "Wow, Gee I can see again." The doctor informed Eddie that he would now be able to drive. I thought to myself, NOW!!!!!!!!. Eddie drove us to the doctor's office, what a scary thought! ============================================== EDDIE MCGEE was a former member of the Pony Express Country Music Awards Association. ============================================== EDDIE MCGEE was a former member of the Massachusetts Country Music Adwards Association. ================================================In 1985, EDDIE MCGEE recieved Citations from the Massachusetts State Senate and House of Representatives for promoting Country Western Music throughout the state. ============================================== ============================================== IN MEMORY OF CHARLES E. The reason for his return to the studio was that Eddie wished to give a gift to Rose, his wife and former bandmate, who at the time was suffering with cancer. He recorded seven country songs. Well, about two weeks after moving to the country, I got into a car accident. It occured on the way home from work, at a blind intersection. My friend slowly inched out of the intersection to check for traffic, and then while he was taking the left turn, a car seemed to appear out of thin air. It hit the front end of our car and sent it spinning. Then it swerved across the street into another car at the intersection opposite ours. All I could think of was, oh my god, someones either dead or severly injured. Luckily, there was only cuts and scrapes. Everyone involved exited their cars, and were able to walk and move all of their limbs without major difficulty. We then were brought home by our upstairs neighbor, who had always helped us out in times of trouble. When I got home however, I noticed that my website was turned completely upside down. I just couldn’t take anymore bad luck, so I shut down my computer, and went to bed depressed. Then, somehow, when I awoke it was totally fixed. Does this mean that Eddie might have been with us during our accident? Was this a sign from him on the other side? If there is anyway you can explain such a thing to me, it would be greatly appreciated, thank you Sylvia! ============================================== Jo Dee Messina-----JoDee, Do you remember Eddie McGee? ======================================================To Eddie....In my dreams I see your face....And you remind me of what I must do....I need to finish what we started my friend....To musically bring the people back to you....You once touched the world with music....Until illness removed you from the scene....But music was so much a part of your soul....That God simply had to intervene....He magically created our strong friendship....So that your voice would ring out loud and clear....And you were headed back into the right direction....But then God needed you to be near....He gave you the wings of an angel too soon....Leaving me here to complete what we started....I’m planning to achieve that goal for you....Working towards that ever since you sadly departed....Kelly became the Gatekeeper of your goal....Keeping your music locked away and safe....Treating it with compassion, loyalty, and kindness....To guarantee that smile upon your face....So sleep well, Eddie, my good friend....Knowing that your dreams are about to come true....Once the crowd hears your melodic voice....They will all come rushing back to you...........James Wright ============================================== To Eddie....I’m sitting here searching for the right words...The words that would aptly describe what you meant to my life...Mere words can’t fully express the great memories I have of you...Nor the lessons you taught me about people and life...When I met you, I met a man of honor and dignity...A man who’s life was stripped of his fame and fortune...A man who had little but was willing to share that little to benefit another...Someone who would give even to the point of having nothing for himself...A person who gave away his fortune to false friends and yet never felt betrayed...Because it’s what you wanted to do...HELP OTHERS...Someone who laughed at what he had to endure but cried for others with fewer burdens...A person who knew he was among the walking dead but yet...Refused to walk through life carefully, preferring to live as though there was no tomorrow...Someone who brought happiness to many even in your unhappiest time...You taught me much about music and the joy and peacefulness it can bring...You amazed me with your talent...both your vocal and your guitar genius...It was amazing how when in a noisey club, once you started performing...You could hear the hush falling upon the crowd...When you finished a sad song, they would all have tears in their eyes...On occasion, your tears were visible as well...And those bear hugs, you made everyone feel so protected wrapped in your arms...May God Bless You...JAMES WRIGHT

Sounds Like:My name is James Wright, and at present, I'm your everyday grill cook. However, I have long aspired to be a successful and renowned author, poet, songwriter and music producer. I believe that if you are 5 or 50, dreaming big is just as acceptable as it is beneficial. I'm now ready to take that leap, to do whatever is necessary to acheive my life-long goals; and make my musical imagination a reality.......So, in efforts to better pursue my dreams, I left the big city and moved to the country. I needed not only peace from within, but from the beautiful nature now surrounding me. I now live on a quiet, traquil farm with some of my closest friends. This sudden change of scenery has given me a clean slate, a mind free of drama and frustration I left behind. I spend the greater part of my day gazing at the breathtaking skyline, admiring the colorful sunset, a true demonstration of God's grace. I usually cap off my night by listening to the melodic voice of my dear friend Diane, a highly talented and influential singer/songwriter. Although Diane's relaxing music and the country lifestyle have allowed me to find my inner-self, it is the late Eddie McGee who made an everlasting impression on my life. It is his influence that led me to writing my own pieces of art that I am confident to show the world, and bring my best friend's dreams to life. What I am planning to do now, is to work with my wonderful friend Diane Vinnicombe in the promotion of her CD. I want to record the new song you wrote, I LOVE IT. Let's do it!!! Also, Diane's daugther, Faith, you absolutely have to come visit me on the farm for a weekend. I want you armed and ready with a guitar, and that killer voice you've got. I don't doubt that someday you will be topping the charts. NOW, to my new friends Herny, Mike, and G, three very talented rappers, I am working with Greg Wilson, a rap songwriter, on lyrics for you guys. I want you all in on it to, make it a collaborative effort. We should get together soon and work on some new songs, because you guys have the potential to get really big. So, please never give up a dream, NEVER. To C.C. Corey and Dolores Zinkevich, two great friends and two great artists, who i will never forget. They were working with Eddie and I, just before he passed on. Eddie and C.C. even recorded at Tower Records, a glorious duet, "Is It Any Wonder". I believe this song will hit number 1 across the country and C.C. and I will go to the Grammys. Don't worry C.C., I already pick out the dress. LOL That wasn't all however, Eddie also wrote a song especially for Dolores, "Touch Me". I plan to work on both of these songs and bring them to the utmost perfection, for a release in 2008, no matter what obstacles are brought forth. I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL. MUST GET BACK TO WORK!!!!! RESURECTING MASTERPIECES TAKE TIME!.....The song producing process is a magical and more often than not, an amusingly frustrating journey that has life changing effects. My first song, titled, "Telephone Ring" was a corroboration between Eddie and I. It simply amazed me at how effortlessly he worked putting words on paper and making a full blown musical masterpiece. Eddie once told me that the melody of a song, was it's soul; and once accompanied with lyrics, it is given a spiritual body that can touch the hearts of millions. "Telephone Ring" was recorded at Tower Records. At this date the song still needs additional editing, and background vocalization. Despite the amount of work still necessary for a satisfactory finished product, anything is possible, and dreams come true. It is my goal, my ultimate wish, to release "Telephone Ring," my first song written, to the public in 2008.--------EDDIE MCGEE MAY BE AT REST BUT THE SPIRIT OF HIS MUSIC WILL CONTINUE.... IN...“THE SPIRIT OF MUSIC” EDDIE MCGEE ROAD TOUR 2008 ........ To All My New MySpace friends...Thank you so much for visiting my website...This is my friend's dream and I have worked so hard to get here... But through it all I never gave up... And I never will... So if you have a dream...Follow it...Pursue it...Make it happen...If it comes from your heart our Lord will guide you...If you have enjoyed this website please pass it on to your family and friends and share the dream...GOD BLESS YOU ALL...JIMMoving to the city of Worcester was just as exciting as it was frustrating. After several weeks of searching I finally found a job at a 24 hour diner close to my home. I got a position as a late-nite grill cook. The second week on the job, I will never forget, it was a Friday night, and I was at the grill armed and ready. At around 1:00AM the crowd started and as time moved on, the manager didn't show up to help me survive the rush. The diner then proceeded to fill to the brim, and the line simply became longer and longer. I worked as quickly and as accurately as I possibly could, but was still falling behind. The slips were mocking me, as they piled up incessently above the grill. It was about this time, that my confience started to slip, and I started to burn out. The customers were becoming agitated with the wait, and didn't seem to care that I was a new employee. Then, suddenly, Eddie show up after playing a late night gig at a local club. He pushed effortlessly through the vast crowd and came to check if I was alright. I said,"I really don't think I can do this, people are just getting up and leaving." He then smiled and replied,"I will take care of everything, you just keep cooking," and with that, he left. I then begin to focus on what he said and pursued the completion of my pile of slips. Amazingly, even though it was 2:30AM, I could hear him singing and playing guitar to the customers outside the diner. The sound of his voice alone, relaxed me, and before long; all the customers needs were attend to. Everyday, I thank him for that night, without him, I certainly wouldn't have been able to make it through that shift. THANK YOU EDWARD................The making of the Christmas CD was a wonderful, yet at times, very difficult project. Eddie had decided to put me in charge of its completion, which was a hefty task, "heavy is the head that wears the crown" as it were. He collected vocalists from almost every karaoke bar in Worcester, he said there was much hidden talent in such places. The main reason he recruited from such a casual atmosphere, was the fact that he wanted to give those who truely possessed a gift, a fighting chance at the music industry. For this specific project, I went to DownUnder Recording Studio in Gardner, Mass.. I would be working with two highly trained musical engineers, Jim and Jimmy Hall. Much to my surprise, their exerptise brought about a wonderful end result. With their help, I had twelve finished Christmas Songs. However, I still need more content to offer a full package. So I am presently looking for strong vocals to finish this project. One of the many talented singers, Debbie Germaine, passed away just this year at a young age of 44. I will never forget her performance at the recording studio. At the time she was recording, she was at the mercy of chemotheraphy and pain management, prey of her fatal case of cancer. It was her life-long dream to be on a CD, to express her vocal talent to the world; and Eddie made that dream come true. One winter night at the diner, around one o'clock, Eddie came to see if I could use any help. Even though business was slow, he helped out the waitresses by clearing the tables, filling up the sugars, salts, and peppers. Then all of a sudden, an elderly gentleman entered the diner....his face and hands had turned purple from the cold; and he was shivering badly. The man slowly walked over to the stool next to the grill at which I stood, so I asked him if he'd like some coffee. He simply began to cry, and told me that he was in fact, homeless and pennieless. Eddie overheard our conversation and told me to give the man a coffee and that he would pay for it. Well I gave the elderly man a hot cup of coffee and Eddie sat on the stool beside him. The man told us that a long while back, he had lost his family to a horrible accident, and that a local musician did a benefit, which covered the cost of the funeral. Despite the fact that he mentioned how his life was forever changed, he asked a question that took me completely by surpise, "I wonder what ever happened to Eddie McGee." I was totally speechless to say the least, and thats an understatement. Eddie never alluded to that moment in the past, he simply got off the stool, grabbed his winter coat, and wrapped his coat around the gentleman. Eddie then said, "You keep the coat it will keep you warm." What Eddie said next, I'll never forget, "Eddie McGee was one hell of a musician in his day!", to which the elderly man replied, "Absolutely." After the man left, Eddie said, "Sometimes we judge people before we get their story, and everyone deserves a helping hand who is willing to listen; not prejudice. Also, even if you don't have much to your name, you should still open your heart and do whatever you can." Eddie was one-hundred percent right with that. To this day I sometimes wonder....."Whatever happened to that elderly man?" --I will never forget Eddie's heart doctor appointment. It began as usual, we were sitting in a drab waiting room full of boring and outdated magazines. In the corner of the room, sat a elderly couple, a husband and wife most likely. Half of the man's body was totally limp, and his face greyish with a drooling mouth; an obvious victim of a stroke. Two young adults beside us did nothing but laugh at the man's crippling condition, little did they know that it could be them someday. Eddie turned to me quickly and proclaimed,"When is this crap gonna end?" He stood up immediately, and walked over to the elderly man with a napkin in his hand. He then wiped the man mouth and smiled. The old man looked right up at Eddie, grinned and thanked him. This was just another example of how Eddie was never prejudiced towards anyone, young or old, black or white, rich or poor. ......I recall one night, Eddie had just finished a gig on New Year's Eve and we were on the way home. The car just ahead of us was traveling dangerously fast and swerved into the other lane and we glimpsed an object fly off the road. The driver merely sped off into the night while Eddie stopped the car to inspect the scene. The OBJECT turned out to be a young tiger cat, hurt, bleeding, and wailing in pain. Eddie realized the cat needed immediate attention, and said, "People don't seem to get that animals were created by the same GOD as us, and should be treated equally. Our purpose is to make sure they are cared for, not abused or mistreated." Eddie gently lifted the cat, and we walked back to the car....slowly and carefully. I jumped in, he placed the injured animal on my lap, and we were off. He pushed his foot to the floor and was determined to save the cat's life, no matter what. So enough, we made it to the vet and they saved the small animal. The cat finally came home with us and recovered in no time. Every cat Eddie had are buried in a pet cemetary. They all have their own personalized headstones. It was Eddie's way of showing that eveyone was the same in his eyes, even animals.... Eddie and I were in the process of moving into a smaller apartment, so Eddie saw it fitting to have a "Moving Sale." A middle aged man and a thin, sickly, young boy came to see what we had to offer. As they glanced around the room looking for the perfect buy, the man noticed an old bass guitar standing in the corner. The man quickly, and with considerable excitment, asked if it was for sale and how much. Eddie regrettably shook his head and explained that it belonged to his wife Rose, who had passed away a few years ago. The man looked at Eddie with a hint of saddness in his eyes and mentioned how his eleven-year- old son was undergoing chemotheraphy. He then said it had always been his dream to play the bass, that he just loved the sound. Eddie saw how thin and pale the boy had become, and that he had lost all of his hair to the cancer treatment. Eddie then picked up Rose's bass guitar and handed it to the young child and said, "Keep it and make it sing again." The boy did nothing but give sincere thanks and put a large, radiant smile on his face. Little did he know and myself, that it was the bass guitar used in THE BUG'S promo picture. Eddie was able to give such a wonderful treasure of history to someone who truely deserved it, someone who had just as much passion as Rose. It was probably the most profound moment in all of our years of friendship, and one I'll never forget. I am praying and hoping that the boy is still playing that bass guitar...................................................... .................................... Eddie had several near-death experiences during the mortal portion of his life. His darkest time was when he was a patient at Mass General Hospital. He was admitted for the removel of a brain tumor. Surgery began with no problems but in the middle of the operation Eddie’s vital signs became erratic and the doctor couldn’t regain normality. Eddie told me that he began to float up around the room. That it was a strange feeling but he was comforted by a sudden, powerful and bright light. Eddie followed the light traveling at a tremendous speed, and was even surrounded by total darkness at times... He then told me that when he reached his desitination, he felt no pain. Eddie believed that the shiny, beautiful light that he was following, actually took away the pain. All he was able to feel was peace, knowledge, and love. He then was shocked by his new enviorment, surrounded by people. Eddie said he begged to the Lord to let him die. However, the man who met him said, “You still have a important purpose on earth, you still have many things left to accomplish.” Eddie then awoke, and his vital signs were back to normal...he was convinced that there is life after death, that heaven is real, and there is someone watching over us.MUSIC IS THE LANGUAGE OF THE WORLD...JAMES WRIGHT...A SONG IS A WHISPER OF PEACE AND UNITY...JAMES WRIGHT...PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN WITH THE INTENT TO UNDERSTAND...JAMES WRIGHT...LEADERSHIP IS PERSONAL SECURITY AND SHARED VALUES...JAMES WRIGHT...THE TRUE JOY OF LIFE IS HAPPINESS...JAMES WRIGHT To Eddie....You are aboard the flight to Heaven...On a trip not planned by you...You never awoke to see tomorrow arrive...Nor to finish what you wanted to do...But your passport was properly in order...Your heart had the power to fly...Your soul had the innocence to penetrate...Any star that went zooming by...You met strangers who called you by name...And an extra special crew...They told you that you wouldn't need no baggage...In the place you were flying to...Your memories would travel along...Like the songs that you wrote every day...Their melodies will surround me as well...As I journey on my way...Your plane easily glides through the clouds...Such a soothing and peaceful ride...Carrying you to those you have fondly missed...Who can't wait to lock you inside...I'm not sure that Heaven is good enough...For someone who already earned his wings...While traveling through this, our mortal world...Making music that made our hearts sing...The plane eases onto the landing field...It's time to wander through that pearly gate...SAINT PETER calls your name right away...As the angels can not longer wait...They hand you a guitar made of glistening stars...Your stool made of a billowy cloud...They applaud you with their angel wings...As you sing your song clear and loud...It's your opening night there in Heaven...And you sit dressed in sequins and spangles...You strum your guitar and make magical sounds...From the band known as BLACKJACK ANGELS...The SAVIOR stands up and cheers...He gives you a lifetime contract to stay...They'll be no more sad songs for you to sing...And no more tears that will get in your way...JAMES WRIGHT
