FUZZY FX

First of all I must confess that I'm a P-Funk head and a "Funkaholic". Yeah, I'm definitely hooked, addicted or whatever you might call it. I'm always tryin' to create the funkiest bassline, the perfect beat, the monster-groove par excellence. Even though I'll never make it, I don't care at all cause it's cool to get close to it. The journey is the reward so to say. My latest musical "drug" is GoGo. And I don't mean GoGo dancing in night clubs. I'm talking about this non-stop, live performed, percussion lead, heavy funk from "Chocolate City" Washington DC. Though I started listening to GoGo back in the 80ies, I still can't get enough of that funky stuff. GoGo is definitely the blackest and funkiest music ever. Too bad it never became as popular as Hip-Hop or house music.
Anyway - when I was a lil' boy, I wanted to become a drummer. But my parents refused to buy me a drumkit. So I started playing guitar at the age of 14 and played the bass for the first time when I was 15 or 16. Down to the present day I can't decide which instrument I like more. After playing in several bands back in the days (Rapture, WEFUNK, Joy Flemming...) in 1999 me and my long time fellow musician Akeem (keys) started the funk-band BOOTY JAM which gives you "Funky Music 4 Ya Ass". For we don't like playin' cover tunes, BOOTY JAM is providing originals only. So besides playing the bass I improved my skills in writing songs and lyrics. For almost 10 years now BOOTY JAM is my funky homebase. I really love this band, the musicians, the songs and the outstanding 70ies outfits. Together with my fellow funkateers Darrell, Dean, Mui and Dude I started another band project called HOO DAT at the end of 2007. This time it's me on guitar. We're about to write some more songs and make the show tight for the first upcoming gigs in January. So stay tuned for HOO DAT!
Besides my two main bands every now and then I'm involved in the project Moon Base (formerly TMC) of mastermind, keyboard-wizzard and my BJ fellow musician Thomas Motter and in contributing some bass and guitar trax to the cross-over lounge project Jamolectric.
Besides all those band projects and a regular daytime job I sometimes wonder how I manage to write new material and record songs for my own project FX-Productions. Though I'm working on them songs just for fun, usually they turn out to become the basic idea for new material for BOOTY JAM or HOO DAT. By the way - I guess this is the right place and time to say thank you to my girl for her support, understanding and the countless hours she had to spend alone while I was funkin' around. Thanx baby, I love ya.
