Nia Imani is one of America’s
most talented young stars. A multi-faceted child, Nia Imani is a Broadway
actress, model, singer, songwriter, musician and producer.
Nia Imani is best known for her role in the Tony Award
winning Broadway musical “The Lion King†for Disney Theatrical Productions.
She is currently starring on Broadway as Young Nala, princess of the Pridelands;
a fierce, brave lioness and best friend to Young Simba. She won the role
as Young Nala after auditioning against thousands of hopeful children in
Disney’s nationwide search. Her role as Young Nala garnered her
opportunity to be listed by Ebony Magazine as one of "Black Broadway's Best" in
their November 2008 issue. A Chance to be Malia Obama in Defying
Inequality: A Broadway Concert with Marc Shaiman. Also, she was
featured in The Lion King Educational Video
about the making of
The Lion King.
Additionally, Nia Imani became SESAC Atlanta's youngest
affiliate music publisher at age ten. She will be taking her skills to another
level when she team up with major music songwriters/producers in LA to continue
recording her debut album.
From her first television
commercial to a fair scene in Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns†Nia Imani was born
to entertain. She
began her journey in the entertainment industry
at age eight as the youngest singer to audition for the internationally known
Sweet Auburn Spring Festival. Covering songs by Jill Scott, Aretha Franklin,
Sam Cooke, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Bette Midler, Beyonce, Jennifer
Holliday, and many more started the industry buzzing about her amazing gifts.
She’s been invited to perform at many notable establishments, such as Ashford
and Simpson’s Sugar Bar in Manhattan, and Café 290 in Atlanta.
Purpose and Faith are the meanings of her names and the
guiding principles behind her life. She is an honor roll student, a 2 year
Georgia Tech Scholar, and a National Junior Beta Club Member. She completed 5th
grade at a performing arts elementary school; where she majored in Vocal Music
with a Piano minor, and was a member of their acclaimed Vocal Ensemble.
Nia Imani is also a humanitarian who addresses issues of
concern to children. She is a member of Actors' Equity Association (AEA),
Broadway Kids Care, and SESAC Atlanta.
