About Me

I am a 27 year old musician, originally from the mean streets of Littleton Colorado. I've played the drums (self taught) for about 12 years, then I attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California and the Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, California. (The songs on this site are over 3 years old and do not reflect my current playing ability. My style, technique, and overall sound has improved greatly since the recording of those tunes.) By studying under drummers like Joe Pocaro, Ralph Humphreys, Rob Carson, Glen Sobel, and other phenomenal musicians, I have increased my confidence, musicianship, and performance abilities. I have extensive studio and live playing experience and I have also studied audio engineering under Roy Pritts (former A.E.S. vice president) at the University of Colorado at Denver. I love seeing live music but I enjoy creating it a lot more. My main areas of expertise are in the drum n' bass/ jungle, funk, and rock genres but I have a new-found love for jazz, live-tronica and world music. I always have several projects going but I love to meet and jam with new musicians. I am working on an educational drum kit book and DVD called the , “The Pentagon method.” When Im not playing music, I work at a drum sales and restoration shop (www.oddworldmusic.com) in Monterey Park, CA. I also have begun to do some engineer work in the studio located at the store, 2425 Studios. Im always available for recording, live gigs, and private lessons...Hit me up!!!!Stay tuned for my new instructional video series brought to you by Vortex productions and Odd World music.

Influences: My true source of inspiration are my friends and family, especially my mom and my dad. THEY ARE THE REASON I am the musician I am today. My main drumming influences are Tim Alexander, Brian Mantia, Neil Peart, John Bonham, Johnny Rabb, and Terry Bozzio. Other drum influences include: Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl, Zigaboo!, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Vinnie Colaiuta, Mike Clark, Jay Lane, Dennis Chambers, Abe Jr., Stanton Moore, Thomas Lang, Marco Minneman, ‘Smitty’, and of course my teachers! Most recently I have been studying the incredible gifts that Kris Meyers, (Umphreys McGee) Mike Travis, (String Cheese Incident) and Zach Velmer, (STS9) has given to the drumming and music community. If you have no idea who these drummers/bands are, inform yourself! There are many great bass players that have helped me create my sound. Too many to list but a few are Les Claypool, John Paul Jones, Mike DeGroot, Tyson Strom, and Geddy Lee. Wether Im creating the groove or enjoying it, I will see you on the dance floor!
