It’s a revolution in consciousness that truly has the power to change our world. The shift from fear, violence and greed to love, peace and harmony will only happen when we have the courage to take the leap from our heads to our hearts. When YOU –and I – can open our hearts to every experience that life has to offer, then we will transform our inner and outer reality from suffering to joy. And this means opening our hearts even in the midst of hell, even when life is difficult, challenging or painful, even when every fiber of our being screams to run away and hide or to retaliate and fight. Opening wide to embrace this moment exactly as it is means that we shift our perspective from the myopia of self-centeredness: instead of seeing things in terms of me and mine, we expand our vision to see things from a universal perspective. In the universal perspective, there is no separation between me and you, me and the world, me and life: we are all one. When we awaken to the true divine nature of everything that exists, then every moment is a holy one and every interaction brings us closer to God.
God is not that which is outside of ourselves. God is neither a person nor a thing, but simply the experience of this moment as it is, without judgment and without labeling, without grasping or aversion … just the brilliant nakedness of NOW! Every experience in life is a calling from God and when we can open wide to receive this moment as it is, we come into right relationship with life. And when we come into right relationship with every aspect of our lives – from how we eat to how we make love and from how we work to how we pray – then all the old limiting structures will crumble and the world will be rebuilt on new foundations of Love and Truth and Heaven will be re-created on Earth.
My life has been transformed by this one realization of the divinity of every moment. And, of course, the resolute practice of staying present and opening my heart in every moment even when a thousand horses were pulling me the other way. YOU can do it too – whoever you are and wherever you are, whatever you are doing and however life is for you – you can choose love not fear RIGHT NOW. And keep on choosing it!
