Are you glad to be alive? Fred Le Blanc of Cowboy Mouth is demanding to know.At nearly two hundred shows a year for fourteen years Cowboy mouth asks this question at top volume and the only answer they want to hear is yes! Cowboy Mouth is pure New Orleans rock n roll with more hooks and melodies then gumbo has spices and lyrics that bring you right into a hot steamy night in the French Quarter. John Thomas Griffith, (the Griff), on lead guitar/vocals, earned a hit record on Columbia Records and an MTV hit in the eighties with his band The Red Rockers. Fred Le Blanc maniacal front man/drummer/lead singer, (think Tasmanian Devil playing drums like Keith Moon with a voice like Bo Diddley), helped rewrite the definition of southern rockn roll bad boys while raising hell and making indie records with Dash Rip Rock before becoming known simply as Fre-e-e-e-d! to thousands of Mouth fans. You can also add to his credits a gold record for producing Deadeye Dicks LP, New Age Girl. Paul Sanchez, (guitar/vocals), left New Orleans for New York City playing in the East Village and working on his writing skills with folks like Michelle Schocked and John S. Hall, (King Missile) before Griff and Fred called him back into rock n roll. As Fred has said, If The Neville Brothers and The Clash had a baby, it would be Cowboy Mouth. Taking their name from a Sam Shephard play, the band has released two albums on MCA, one on Atlantic and several on their own Cowboy Mouth Records label. Theyve appeared in the Steven Soderburgh film The Underneath, on MTV and VH1, The Late Show with Craig Kilborn and a memorable appearance on the Regis Philbin Morning Show where backstage Carmen Electra kept Fred on the run all day. Cowboy Mouth has so far enjoyed domestic sales of over 450,000 units, according to Soundscan. But the album figures are insignificant compared to the number of tickets the band sells to their live events. In 2003, the band played in front of over 1,000,000 people with a touring schedule of about 150 shows. Crowd participation is a must at a Cowboy Mouth rock n roll revival. The band onstage, led by Freds larger than life presence, is extraordinarily intense, with vocal and style changes between members that keep audiences glued, usually leaving them as drenched and spent as the band. Cowboy Mouth fans range from ages five to age eighty-five but they have one thing in common. As Fred confides to the audience, Cowboy Mouth is about pretending that your five years old, naked as a jaybird and about to turn the hose on your parents and theres not a damn thing they can do about it. Proudly wearing their Mardi Gras colors on their sleeve, the band is currently in a fourth year of a marketing sponsorship with New Orleans own Southern Comfort. The company provides the band with a custom designed tour bus and support to continue to take their New Orleans style revelry to the rest of the country. The band, with Southern Comforts assistance, is currently touring and promoting their CD, Live at the Zoo. It was recorded at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Portions of the proceeds are going back to Chicagos Zoo. Griff describes the experience by stating, Cowboy Mouth has been one hell of a ride. Its nice to have your cake and eat it too. Its opened up opportunities that I never thought possible. This year we are starting a golf tournament the day after the Jazz Fest in New Orleans, Cowboy Mouths Drive Fa Da Tribe, to raise money for our friends at Camp Summer Tribe. This group takes children challenged by the disabilities of cerebral palsy to a summer camp. With the help of high school volunteers and adult chaperones these kind folks have been bringing some of the most beautiful smiles to some beautiful faces youve ever seen. Always on the road, theyve toured several times with their friends in Hootie and the Blowfish, Bare Naked Ladies, Sister Hazel and Better Then Ezra. Surprise guests on stage have included, Steve Van Zandt ( Bruce Sprintsteen) in Philly, Rob Thomas (MB20) in Hawaii, and John Popper (Blues Travelers) in Floridarrr! Art Neville in New Orleans and Johnnie Johnson,(Chuck Berrys piano player) and Kyle Turley in St. Louis, and Tom Arnold (Best Damn Sports Show) to name a few memorable moments. Their audience stretches from the festivals and colleges to the clubs and theaters they headline around the country. When was the last time you just let it go, let it go, let it go!!! Their live shows have become legendary, best captured by Cake magazine ...on a bad night theyll tear the roof off the joint and on a good night, theyll save your soul.
Anything with Tom Hanks (the best actor of our day), Also like Adam Sandler movies, Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Lane I know its a chick flick but I want to live in Italy someday
