Sabi Kulture Media Q & A With Synsay
Who You Be ??
The name is Syn the Villacator. Syn cause we all do bad things. Villacator Half Villain Half Educator for various reasons
What is your background? (Who are you ?Tell your story.)
Well born in Brooklyn, New York to Panamanian parents. I was sent to live with my grandparents in Panama until I 9. Moved back to New York then wound up relocating to Maryland where I started rhyming with my first group and been rhyming since then. Now I’m in Philly trying to make it happen.
Why do you want to record and release your own music? (Be very honest.)
The reason why I choose to my make music is because I loved music since I was in my mother stomach. I know who sung what from 1955 up until 1997 after that I stopped paying attention to music. I choose this because I want my name and my songs to be remembered when I’m dead and gone.
Who is your fan/customer? (Analyze this question thoroughly.)
I don’t really think I have fans! Then again to tell you the truth, I don’t think I want any fans. I just want people to feel what it is I’m saying and relate of some kind of level.
What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)
80 % Battle / 10 Life. If you ask anyone. They will tell you I’m a battle emcee. I love it. I’ll come at anybody I don’t care who you are or where! I’ll tear you a new one!!!! I’m fluent in this. The rest pertains to things I see, stuff I’ve experienced. I speak on behalf of the people you are not rich and living a so called “Baller’s or Pimp’s Lifeâ€. I am all about the people
Do you write your own songs? (Discuss the songwriting process in detail.)
Yeah I write my own songs. Why would I want to recite some other guy’s lyrics? That shows me who have no talent at all! The only genre of music I know of where you sing another’s person lyrics is in R& B. I mean in Rap noticed I Rap you had Big Bank Hank , Diddy and other, but this Hip-Hop I breathe. I take my sweet time writing a song. I won’t write till something hit me. I don’t force anything. I want people to feel how I was feeling at that time. Hell I’m still sitting on tracks for 2006, but I’ll get to them.
Who are your musical influences? (Site specific examples.)
Man we cloud be here all day on e this one. Well I grew up on various genres of music Kompa, Zouk, Salsa , Meringue, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca and so. To summaries it Bob Marley because of his love for people, Hector Lavoe and Ruben Blades, for taking Salsa to mainstream, El General for being the first cat to ever do Reggae en Espanol. I mean the list goes on and on
How do you describe your music to people? (This is not a short answer. Discuss it.)
From the soul! The reason being I feel what I say. Almost to the point where I get emotional, and I mean very emotional. Where do get from now a days? You don’t! Take my song “ Won’t settle†I say Do I just give up my dream and work 9-5/ but if I do that I won’t feel alive inside/. That alone says it all. I need hell we all need to feel alive at one point or another. The stage and my family are where I feel alive.
What image do you think your music conveys? ( Do not avoid the image issue!)
Aside from you losing in a battle against me! I try to convey images. I just put it out there you take from it what you want. I can only show you the door. The rest is up to you and what you do out there!
What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.) Shows, Shows, Shows, Deal, and Shows
What are your long-term career goals?
Never having to work for Corporate America again! Just continue doing music weather I’m emcing or composing music. Then move back to Panama for good
How would you define the word “success (This is not a short answer. Discuss it.)
Success is 85% having faith in God and 15% your determination. If you believe in the Father and know that he will get you to that finish line by the sacrifices you made. Then your very successful. No man can do anything with out the God in their lives. If you claim it in his name then it yours. The determination comes in where you do the things you don’t want to do to get you where you need to be. I never met a person who lays home all day thriving. Success come to those who want it. Now I the exact point where I know I made. That moment is where I clear my credit. That’ my success
br
Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal? (Why?/Why not?)
Indie, because I want to own my Masters, I love freedom . With majors you get told what you image is. Indie your free
What live performance experience have you had? (Any industry showcases?)
I’ve done a couple shoes in CT, Maryland, D.C and other spots. Now I want Europe. No industry at all I’m hardcore for that.
How do you rate your live performance ability? ( Be very critical. No clichés,)
8 there’s always room for improvement.
Have you recorded any CDs? (Which studios? Who produced it?)
My album is getting ready to drop. The Fine Line is mane of it. Production by D-tech for Lab Rats, Epic P for B.O.E Music, SunMoon for Soul-lure and Nile Hardin for 3rd School. Most of my recording took place by Mr. Nile Hardin
