Vertago was born in Portland, OR and was influenced from a young age by funk, jazz hip hop, r & b, and various other soulful music. Early in his teens he became exposed to LA/Chicago house, a form of house that had a harder edge, often referred to as Deep House. Labels such as Bust-A-Groove and Underground Construction were the most familiar to the genre through the late 90s.. Over the years Vertago lived in various places such as England, Australia, Canada and more recently Panama, as well as traveling to many more. His cultural and musical experiences influenced his style, and outlook on music. The people who influenced Vertago the strongest in respect to house were Bad Boy Bill, DJ Humpty Vission, DJ Enrie, and a handful of others. His history in the Portland, OR DJ scene was limited to smaller functions and raves in past years. But as of late has been making a resurgence The most profound moment of his short career came a few years ago with his debut mix, that opened many peoples ears to the greatness that is house! A mixture of hard beats, Latin and Brazilian rhythms, and even some strong peak hour sounds fuse through his mix. Over the last couple years Vertago finished a residency at The Viper Room, as well playing at various venues such as Pi-Rem in the Portland area. The new chapter of Vertago's career found him heading south to Panama to discover new integration of his love for the latin house flavors, that of course adds to his style in a truly organic and live sense.
