Joe Gualtiere is a senior Vocal Major at the Fame school, LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Joe will soon attend The Boston Conservatory where he will major in Opera/Classical Voice. He recently performed in the first revival of CITY OF ANGELS (Angel City 4), choreographed by Walter Painter, who staged the original Broadway, London, and National Tour productions. Joe also performed in RAGTIME (Houdini). He was recently featured on television and at Madison Square Garden as a backup singer for Elton John. He also made his debut at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, where he sang solo at New York City Opera and Avery Fischer Hall as well as with the New York Philharmonic. Opera Credits: THE MIKADO (Nanki-Poo), COSI FAN TUTTE (Ferrando), PIRATES OF PENZANCE (Frederic), and a world premiere production of DIDO AND AENEAS performed with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Joe has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Bill Clinton, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bernie Taupin in addition to performing for The Sopranos, Rosie O’Donnell, Zach Braff, Anne Hathaway, the Osbournes, and Paul McCartney. Other musical credits include: ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (Jester), GREASE (Sonny), BYE BYE BIRDIE (Albert), A CHORUS LINE (Greg), WEST SIDE STORY, Rising Stars 2007: I Am New York, Rising Stars 2008: The Creation of Hope, and a summer improv tour with NEAT Productions. Joe has also performed with many leading choirs including Grammy Award ® Winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus, LaGuardia’s Classical Chorus, and LaGuardia’s Show Choir, singing pieces such as the Mozart Requiem, Handel’s Four Coronation Anthems, Faure Requiem, Haydn’s Te Deum, and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. He recently received an opera scholarship from the Cirio Foundation and is a member of the National Honor Roll. Joe looks to continue his career in opera and musical theatre.
