Hi, I'm Eric from The Little Mermaid. I have a beautiful wife, Ariel, and a precious daughter, Melody. The story begins with Ariel always wanting to go up to the surface, she found a sunkin ship and her and flounder decided to explore it. Well she went to the surface to ask scuttle about the neat thing-a-ma-bobs she found. She then realized she had a show to put on with her sisters. Her father was furious. Well she saw a ship and came up to the surface, I was on that ship and she fell in love with me the moment she laid eyes on me. My ship then caught on fire, and she saved my life. I remembered her voice when I woke up. But there was noone to be found. Everyone thought I was crazy, but I knew, whoever she was, was the one for me. Ariel went to visit Ursula the Sea Witch. She got a pair of legs and wanted to come see me. But in exchange for those legs, she had to give up her voice. She could not speak to me, and that was very dificult for us. Turns out she was the one for me, and we got married. In the second movie, we had our beautiful daughter, Melody. And we lived Happily Ever After.

♥ The Movie, based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale, was Disney's first animated feature based on a fairy tale in three decades. The last had been 1959's Sleeping Beauty. ♥ The studio first considered making "The Little Mermaid" in the late 1930's, and illustrator Kay Nielsen prepared story sketches in pastels and watercolors. Her work was studied by the film's modern-day animators, and Nielsen recieved a "visual development " credit on the film. ♥ The film had more effects than any animated feature since Fantasia. Nearly 80 percent of the film required some kind of effects work.
