Got to Get You Into My Life

About Me

I am a 29-year-old writer-activist-journalist-blogger-lawyer-organizer-politici an. In other words, I just passed the Bar and I don't know what I'm doing with myself.
I'm currently working at the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, where I mostly run Beyond Chron -- a lefty political news website. Which is why some people call me a "reporter" but I'm more of a "writer."
Before law school, I spent 3 years comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable -- as a tenant organizer in the Tenderloin. I was also on the Berkeley Rent Board for four years, having been elected right after college.
People have accused me of being obsessive -- I prefer to say that I am focused. I am a lefty activist in conservative times, an eternal optimist in pessimistic times, and a cheerful idealist in a gloomy and cynical world. I believe, as Gandhi said, that we must be the change we believe in. But most of all, you need to make people laugh, even when you take on very serious issues.
My lifelong goal is to completely undo the Reagan legacy, which was a shameful chapter in our history. But first I must work to completely undo the Bush legacy -- who has proven to be the "WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER."

My Interests

Striking fear in the heart of the political establishment -- and knowing how to beat them at their own game. Tenants' rights, singing, piano, strumming my six-string on my front-porch swing, dancing like a madman, and lengthy road trips. I have a loud voice, mucho creativity, and limitless energy.

I'd like to meet:

Now that I live in San Francisco, I have found that most of my friends live in the East Bay. So I want to meet more people on this side of the Bay who I can hang out on weekends with.
I also want to meet a gay, single guy who is between the age of 23-33, lives in the Bay Area, is intelligent, and can carry a decent conversation. Someone who also has their own life, interests and activities that will keep me forever intrigued is important too.
Must be okay with me breaking into song, and find it endearing. Must be willing to go to piano bars. Special bonus if you too love to sing, and are willing to sing at piano bars.
You don't have to be as into politics as I am, but care enough that you vote. And if you don't vote, at least try to overthrow the government.

Music:

Generally music that came out before I was born. My favorite band is the Beatles, and my favorite song is "American Pie" by Don McLean. But I also like U2, R.E.M., Bruce Springsteen, Beck, Sheryl Crow and Moxy Fruvous.

Movies:

The Shawshank Redemption, Life is Beautiful, Scent of a Woman, American Beauty, Moulin Rouge, The Commitments, My Cousin Vinny, Beautiful Thing

Television:

The Simpsons, Seinfeld, South Park. Other than that, TV sucks, and people should go out into the world and live life -- rather than just watch it.

Books:

I swore never again to read a book after "To Kill a Mockingbird" gave me NO USEFUL ADVICE on how to kill mockingbirds!!

Heroes:

Paul Wellstone, Martin Luther King, Robert F. Kennedy
