Romana Quintel

About Me

Raised on folk music, Romana's earliest memories were made at pub sessions, family gatherings and rural dances. With a musician father and understanding mother, music was literally one of the first sounds she heard. Whether hanging around pub sessions, spending lazy Sundays on her grandparents' verandah listening to jams or falling asleep under tables as her dad played at country halls, Romana has been surrounded by music.
Romana blew into Adelaide on a sou’-easterly some ten years ago, from a home on a hill surrounded by pine trees and steeped in acoustic folk traditions - far from the Appalachia’s, but certainly the inspiration for songs of love, loss and longing, revenge and redemption. Romana’s sweet fragile and yearning vocals breath life into her own original compositions and favourite covers from artists such as Gillian Welch and Lynn Morris, and are subtly grounded by the tasteful accompaniment of well known South Australian musician Henk Groot (www.myspace.com/thecowtippersau).
Romana will be recording her own tracks in the near future and get her music "out of the loungeroom"! Stay in touch as this little bit sweet, little bit sad but always optimistic singer-songwriter brings you her tunes of love, loss and longing.
