About ARRAS
The Australian Rock’n’Roll Appreciation Society (ARRAS) was founded in 1974. We are not a dance club, but an association of people who have a passion for '50s style music. We are a mixed bunch of enthusiasts, consisting mainly of record collectors, music promoters, DJs, musicians and rock'n'roll dancers. Our club members come from all over the globe and everyone who shares our passion is welcome to join us.
We publish a quarterly magazine called the “Big Beat of the '50s" which pays tribute to all genres of roots music that were the forerunners to rock'n'roll. Our magazine also includes articles about present day artists who have their roots in the old sounds. Annual membership with ARRAS includes four issues of the “Big Beat of the ‘50s†magazine, posted to your address.
ARRAS also presents a weekly radio show called “Shake, Rattle and Roll†which is broadcast every Saturday night between 8 PM – 9.30 PM (AEST). “Shake, Rattle and Roll†is now available via live streaming over the internet: Radio 3CR Melbourne
