Are you serious? ok I'll try...wrote my first song when I was 13. Called it "Ain't Ready to Waste My Life Away". Not sure yet if that's happened or not. Hope not. That was 197 frikken 9. Formed a band shortly thereafter with some "chums", "schoolmates" or whatever and called it MANTIS. We thought that was pretty cool. We played "Walk Don't Run" and thought we were on our way. No one had the balls yet, literally, to sing so we instrumentalized our way thru a bunch of shit for the school gigs. Few years of dickin around with a few people then my old best friend, Miles Anderson rest his soul called me to come sing in a band out in Chilliwack of all places. Well, we got pretty good and by 1983 we were doin some decent sized shows out there. I had to quit after I fell asleep at the wheel on the freeway coming home after rehearsal one night. Playing in a band in Chilliwack was just too dangerous, even for me. Shortly thereafter I met a guy named Ken McKay who, with his buddies Graham and Philthy had a little original punk combo going on but needed some vocals. Well, dirty-shirted right in there fast. It was a great band called Skoolboyz and we were the rockinest original act in Coquitlam BC for a few years. I used the pseudonym "Roger Wilco" which at the time was kinda clever and we made a record that went straight to number 79965. No, it was good, we got on TV and radio for a while but the train came off the tracks if you know what I mean and ended in 1986. I didn't realize I was being scouted by a fellow named Kevin McCormick during that time, so when Skoolboyz wrapped I immediately joined up with Kevin, Orlando Dolinski bassist from Stonebolt, and Ziggy Zicardo drummer of drummers during the 80's. We played covers of Hendrix, ZZ Top, Cream, and Beatles to name a few and this band carried on with various drummers including Rocket Norton, (Prism) Tommy Stewart (Trooper), Brian"Too Loud" McCloud, (Head Pins, Chilliwack) Michael Root, (Joe's Garage), and Rick Fedyk (King Karma, Big Bamboo) for some 16 years. Sorta like Spinal Tap that way. We hosted Jams all over Vancouver during that time and I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting and grooving with all the best players in Vancouver like Skip Prest, Mick Dalla-Vee, John Webster, John Alfano, Harris Van Berkel, Tim Butler, jesus the list is endless! Have I dropped enough names yet? Throughout the McCormick Band era I never gave up on my original music and continued to write, record, and perform my own shit. I formed several bands, most notably The Dav Douglas Project to get the stuff heard. My brother Doug was invaluable as my engineer and sound guy and I have many fond memories of our years together producing music. The year of 2000 saw Orlando move to Calgary signaling the end of the McCormick era, and I went looking for something new. I found it at Wreck Beach where a band named Rekkerz was in need of vox. Another cover band, we had a ton of fun together, especially playing at the Beach in the summer of 2001 for hoards of adoring, scantily clad fans. In the meantime, I traveled east to Ontario and jammed it up with such extraordinary players as "Handsome Wayne" and the "Weber Bros". Anyways, for the past 2 years I played keyboards, of all things, in a band called simply: keepers. We did all original material. New and wonderful musical endeavors lie just over the horizon.......The horizon has been breached! The Moment is here and my god how it rocks! A frenzied foursome including myself, Paul Girard, Brad Uchida, and Mike "The Satch" Satchwell has been created for your very own listening and dancing pleasure. All original, never before performed material which takes the word "rockin" to an all new level. We are a combo consisting of four unkempt, sarcastic, blood sniffin' bastards looking for a good time and free beer. Polly G has all the talent I wish I had at his age, with a future so bright you might as well be staring at the sun. .....hmm, I'll have to stay alive for a while yet....or at least for....The Moment
