“Smokin~Daveâ€
Inspired by the works of Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, Cream & Hendrix, Dave had experimented with psychedelic improvisational guitar for several years before moving to Dallas/Oak Cliff in the mid 1980’s. Dave’s tonality, musicianship, improvisational ability and universal chops made him a familiar face in the Blues/Rock scene around town… Dave was a buyer, seller & locator of vintage guitars, amp‘s, & effects, and became aquainted with touring & regional players, as well as buyers from LA, and Japan... Sometime around 1997 Dave moved to his hometown of Sherman Tx… Dave collaborated with several musicians in a search for what would eventually become the “Tone~Junkies†band… After health related problems around Oct of 2004, Dave droped out of the band, and went on a two year hiatus, and resurfaced again in 2006 hosting open mic night's along side friend Tony Garcia on Tuesday & Wednsday nights.
Dave and Tony Garcia have been colaborating off & on since June 2006... Tony & Dave formed the band “The-WolfGang†to showcase Tony’s original material… Dave's 3~Piece project, Smokin Dave, Crossland & Page, started with emails from friend Tim Morris refering Bassist Mike Crossland when he found Dave was looking for a rythm section to form another power trio... Mike and Dave instantly hit it off and made phone calls to drummer & friend Brian Page, and thus the trio was formed... The first thing that strikes people about the band is how they take a simple power trio and throw a high level, high energy show with it, and have a Party/Rock - Blues/Rock Mix that keeps crowds partying & dancing till the end of the night... Their sound is made up from a lot of different influences. The obvious ones are Trower, Santana, ZZ-Top, Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield, Hendrix, Jeff Beck and Cream. There's plenty of others. Being fans of imaginative ~~~ Power ~~~ Rock music, they certainly turn styles from all genres into their own great style... Although they pay tribute to several classic rock/blues heroes, their main influence is Texas and have a natural sound that's reminicent of early ZZ-Top... When you hear Smokin Dave, Crossland & Page, you are hearing the real deal... Power Trio Based rock in it's pure honest form...
