Greetings to all! 9 years have passed since our last recording, Atomik Records release "From The Splintered Present Surfaces...". In 2000 it seemed like the end of the 10 year journey for us, but here we are in 2009 working diligently on our follow up recording , "The Quintal Concept". We are a 70's prog influenced band and we do not try to hide it. We are not the most technical of players and we are not claiming to have invented some new style of prog rock. We simply write music in the style of the great 70's prog artists. We very well may be the Lenny Kravitz of Prog Rock! Through the years there have been various wonderful musicians who have worked with me in Unified Past, all of whom are still great friends although they may not be involved in the band at this time. This next recording finds me re-uniting with our original drummer and band co-founder Victor Tassone, who appeared on our 1992 debut release, "Breaking Up The Atmosphere". This is the first time that Victor and I have played together since 1993. I am thrilled to have him back in the pocket. His enthusiasm and energy is infectious. Original Vocalist Steve Calovi, who was last heard on our music in 1996, has already laid down vocal tracks to three tunes and will be heard on several more. We are also trying to get original bassist Mike Donohue to add bass tracks. If this happens, then all of the original members from our debut CD will be back together for this project, and that is very exciting. Adding some keyboards to a few of the songs will be Vinny K, who has been with us since "Endangered Species". Thanks to the internet, we are now teaming up with the band members and exchanging tracks and ideas through the web. We have enough material for a second disc. For a complete history of our band and our sound, please visit our website - where you can hear material from every CD and check out some tablature too. We want to let you all know that our sound has evolved considerably for our next recording. We have a new level of energy and excitement which will clearly come across. We also have our most creative work yet. There will be several instrumental works added to the mix. We have added a touch of recent "Tool" works to our sound in combination with our love for 70's style progressive rock. We had hoped to have our project completed by the end of fall 2008, but a severe family illness put the project on hold. We are now hoping that by summer of 2009 our new disc will finally be ready. We hope that you visit us often, as we will post a few new songs as they are completed. Please let us know what you think and stay tuned for more music to come!
Thanks,Steve Speelman -Guitars, Vocals, Composer.
