Johnny "Mahalo" Grove

Growing up, music wasn't something I thought I could get into. I mean, I had short fingers and I couldnt remember theory too well, but I stuck with it and worked hard. It wasn't really a chore to me after a while, it just became something i did everyday. Like tying my shoes. It all started when I was 10, and my parents got me a piano to encourage music while growing up, I then turned to guitar at 13 and self taught myself to play until I was more comfortable holding a guitar than holding a microphone, though I wish my singing could get better. From there I bought an Epiphone SG and lived my rock lifestyle listening to Eddie Van Halen, Led Zepplin and other rock and roll gods, rebelling against anything that felt uncomfortable to me. When I turned 19 I realized that music isn't about the technical prowless, it was the ability to keep myself happy. If I was to grow as a musician I had to enjoy the music I was playing or stop wasting my time and so I picked up the acoustic guitar and turned off the distortion on my electric guitar and started playing the music that brought out good feelings inside.
