And now a word from Maria...
Born in Seattle Washington I was the third generation born on Christmas day. Everyone always ask if I got cheated on my birthday? The answer is no in my family it was a big celebration. I lived in Seattle until I was 5 years old.
Raised in a small town in Bookings OR. The Martin side of the family were some of the original settlers in the small town. My great-grandfather was an engineer that built a major bridge linking 2 towns together. The bridge was named after him in his honor Dot Martin Bridge and family museum. My Grandparents raised me and my younger sister, but I have 9 other half brothers and sisters. Know you know why my middle name is Love. My grandparents had us in volleyball, cross country, basketball and track ever sense the age of 5. The first time I ever got my picture in the paper. I knew then I loved being in the spot light. 4H and other church camps were a part of everyday living.
I would have to say my hero is my grandmother. she raised a million kids took care of home, worked her own business and still found time to wake my sister and I up early in he morning on Saturday for chocolate milk and a road trip.
Then went on to Boise State University on a full scholarship for cross country and track. Then finished up at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. At the same time I got connected with my Cherokee side of my heritage.
While living in Oklahoma I started expressing my artistic side through modeling. I still needed to know about starting my own business from the ground up. So I found the next largest city was Dallas TX that seemed to have a lot of minority entrepreneurs doing their thing. Dallas welcomed me with open arms..
Now today I'm reaching for the stars and I am so optimistic about my website and the direction my dream is going to lead me.
