The work of Megyn Florence blends the influence of her interdisciplinary skills as a designer, tailor, seamstress, bookbinder, blacksmith, carpenter, glassblower and conceptual artist.
With a nod to classical couture and antiquity, her designs bolster sculptural silhouettes, innovative construction and flawless fit. Articulated in a simple palate of neutral colors, her style puts an unwavering emphasis on shape and line. Megyn’s work speaks to the artistic side of fashion, reinforcing the idea of art as a visual language and design as a vehicle for expression. Her designs range from heavily sculptural runway creations to more subdued pieces that express her artistic nature while maintaining functionality and wearability.
Megyn Florence was educated in mixed media sculpture and conceptual art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston while simultaneously attaining a BFA in fashion design at Massachusetts College of Art. In recent years, she honed her craft working with New York designers including Zac Posen and House of Diehl, as well as Geoffrey B. Small in Paris.
Currently the only Brooklyn-based designer showing womenswear in Paris, Megyn Florence is quickly becoming known as ‘Brooklyn’s New Underground’. This spirit of bringing fresh and innovative style from the heart of New York’s new downtown to the most respected, cutting-edge fashion capitals worldwide is the driving force behind her company:
