A twenty year veteran of the Los Angeles music scene, Bill Churchville is known and respected internationally as a versatile trumpet artist, studio musician, horn arranger and music educator.
Growing up in the 1960’s in the multi-cultural music mecca of New Orleans, Bill was bitten by the music bug early in life. Influenced by Louis Armstrong, Al Hirt and the plethora of great New Orleans musicians, Bill decided the trumpet would be his voice.
Fast forward to a few years later, Bill toured Central and South America as a musical ambassador playing first trumpet with the U.S. Army Band SOUTHCOM. A decorated veteran, he returned to Louisiana to complete his Bachelor of Music degree from McNeese St. University in Lake Charles. While a student at McNeese, Bill was recognized internationally when he was awarded the prestigious “Downbeat Magazine†Outstanding College Jazz Instrumental Soloist Award.A year later Bill landed in Los Angeles attending graduate school at the University Of Southern California. In 1991 Bill graduated at the top of his class with a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies and Studio Performance with a minor in Music Production and Recording Arts. He went on to teach in the Jazz Studies department at USC from 1993 –1995. In 1994 Bill was tapped as the trumpet soloist and horn arranger for the legendary soul band Tower Of Power. He went on to record three albums and complete six world tours with the band.Bill’s musical talents have been featured on scores of Hollywood films, TV shows, national commercials, live performances and albums with many of the top musical artists of the day. Bill continues to be in demand as a clinician and performing artist at Colleges and Universities in the U.S. and abroad.In 2008, Bill was chosen to play lead trumpet for international superstar Sir Tom Jones. Bill plays Las Vegas with Tom about 10 weeks a year at the MGM Grand Hollywood Theater.Bill Churchville is a performing artist and clinician for Conn/ Selmer USA.
