About Me

Heather Kropf is a singer/songwriter/producer living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A native of Portland, Oregon and trained in classical piano and fine art, Heather's musical influences are a broad in scope and lyrical color, ranging from 70s singer/songwriters to AAA pop and neo-soul of today.
In 2000, she produced and released her first CD, "Sky" to kind reviews. Her recently released second full-length album "What Else is Love" (mixed at Brooklyn's Cowboy Technical Services and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer, Scott Hull) has been awarded a top Pittsburgh album of the year by WYEP, 91.3 FM Pittsburgh.
Heather has open for such esteemed artists as Chris Smither, Eleanor McEvoy, Ben Arnold, Carrie Newcomer, Betty LaVette, The Weepies, and many more. Heather performs most often as a solo, duo, or trio. You can also catch her a few times a year with her full band line-up. She also works with Joe Waslousky - (Jack to My Friends), Dale Cinski (Icecream Headache) and Korel Tunador (Goo Goo Dolls), John Purse (Crawlin' Low, OPEK), and Jim Relja (Regular Joes). Heather also plays as a duo with Keith Hershberger called The Too Tall Americanos, which feature both of their songs plus cover tunes. And last but not least, Heather is part of a group of women singer/songwriters that call themselves The Riveting Rosies. They perform an annual show and are comprised of Eve Goodman, Janet Ingram, Tracy Drach, and Sue Gartland. Past Rosies have been Patti Spinner and founder, Stacy Mates.
Influences: Poets, mostly. Folks like Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Suzanne Vega, Mark Eitzel, Kate Bush, Me'Shell N'degeoCello, k.d. lang. Very into Lizz Wright and k.d.'s new albums...
Sounds Like: Elements of Tracy Thorne, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Eleanor McEvoy, Nanci Griffith, Sting, Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega...but mostly like a rainy Saturday morning, honey on ice-cream and unrequited dreams...
