Back in 1998 Ginger Leigh and Sarah Dashew found each other singing at the same venue in Austin, Texas (The Rhythm House). They instantly hit it off, jumping on stage to improvise harmonies and make the audience swoon with the music and the laughter.
Soon after their first accidental on-stage magic, the two decided to hit the road together, sharing the bill and the steering wheel from Austin to San Fransisco and back. As soon as they landed back in Central Texas, they took on completing a record Ginger had already begun as a soloist, and it quickly became "GINGER & SARAH's" first record together. "Do What You Will" was a sweet combination of acoustic stylings by the duo.
But it wasn't their sound quite yet. After touring together all over the country and in New Zealand, the band developed more of it's own sound and soon their unique and funky folk-rock sound morphed into the next album, and later the name of the band, "Vera Takes the Cake" (2000).
Ginger & Sarah boast a lot of accomplishments together between 1998 and 2002, when the band finally split up after a move to Los Angeles. Prior to the band's demise, they had toured consistently across the US, Europe, and New Zealand. They cut tracks in Nashville in 2002, but never officially released the material (it's available for download here in the SNOCAP store). Among their accomplishments are also a major sponsorship deal with Advanced Micro Devices, as well as having been selected to tour with Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Media launch across the country. S4 Records (Sony Italia) launched Vera Takes the Cake onto the Italian market, which was a big success!
