About Me

Welcome to the world of the “lyrically robust” sounds of Freemont Jackson. The Chicago native accredits his upbringing on the city’s south side as the foundation that inspires him to bring his story to people across the globe. His vigorous stage presence and vibrant use of vocabulary has captured the attention of noted individuals among the music industry today. "Kinda Lovely and M.O.B!! BOTH OF THOSE JOINTS [are] Hot Famo!!” was stated by renowned Hip Hop and G.O.O.D. music producer Keezo Kane of Freemont Jackson’s music. Freemont Jackson, born Gregory Blake, is slated to make his impact on the Hip Hop seen with his first single from the EP, Hard Work No Play (June 3, 2008), “I’m Da Man”. The energy charged club anthem is sure to move any crowd with is hearty use of horns and thunderous drums (Reminiscent of Historically Black College marching bands). Freemont’s record label ,Ape Zoo Muzik Group, plans to circulate “I’m Da Man” to radio stations across the country in February. The previous mix-tape released “Don’t Feed the Animals” had success in creating awareness. The second scheduled mix-tape (untitled) released date is set for the first week in April. The Freemont everywhere campaign looks to be an exciting one. You may find Freemont on College Tours and other promotional events through out the year starting with the “pop your collar tour” in Cancun and Playa De Carmen February 18-March 3 In 1995, Inspired by the Hip Hop movement & culture, Freemont began his musical career by establishing the lyrical group Elocution. By the age of 17 he participated in city-wide freestyle battle in which earned a spot in the 2000 WGCI’s Remy Martin Freestyle Battle ultimately being crowned the city’s freestyle champion. Free Jack used battles as an opportunity to shape his lyrical format and content. These qualities got the attention of notable producer Spree Israel who produced Jackson’s popular upbeat song “Roller Skate” which secured Freemont an opening lot for Grammy nominated rapper Ludacris in January 2007. Proving his versatility, in April 2007 Freemont was flown to Meaizo to join a month long Cancun tour to perform with live band Tye Dye Sky and Paris Delane. On November 30, 2007, Freemont was one of the featured artists on the Mid-West concert series “Hip Hop Forever.” Moving forward in 2008, Freemont Jackson is ready to make his impact in the Hip Hop community.
