A heart for innovating music. There’s no other way to describe the passion and dedication of the Dynamic Brothers.
It was in the late 90’s at 16-years-old, that twins Davy and Ken bought their first turntable equipment. Inspired by their six-year childhood musical education and the sounds of the Belgian club scene at the time, the boys started to experiment and feed their love for electronic music. As they were twins, they found they subconsciously influenced and triggered each other’s style, leading to a constant progressing of mindset and skills.
In 2003 the boys decided to spread their wings and look abroad for inspiration, having become tired of the mainstream house music popular in their home country. Listening to the emotion-packed sounds of Digweed and Sasha, they knew the next phase in their musical lives had begun.
In 2005 the brothers launched their own sound and vision party-concept at Silo, in the university town of Leuven in Belgium. Thanks to the success of the event, their fan base quickly expanded, firmly establishing the Dynamic Brothers within the underground house scene in their country.
In 2006 their popularity and success continued to grow. They won the Laundry Day DJ contest, the largest DJ comp in Belgium, organised by national television broadcast channel JIMTV. They were then invited to play at Café d’Anvers, one of the top house clubs in Belgium as guest DJs. In 2007, they became the club’s monthly residents, leading to some fantastic nights where they shared decks with the likes of James Zabiela, Pole Folder and Terry Francis. Now they are regularly asked to play in clubs and at parties all over Belgium. When they’re not fulfilling their passion of playing to a warm crowd, the twins are busy in their studio producing their own material, translating their own experiences into their own productions.
With 2008 fast approaching, the 24-year-old brothers are again exploring new grounds. Building further on their unique style - which they describe as energetic, deep techy house and minimal - they’ve been uplifting and gaining inspiration from the party people of London. They made it to the finals of a DJ competition held at the famous Egg nightclub, and they were also invited to guest DJ at one of the UK’s most respected DJ contests, D-Joust, at The White House in Clapham.
If their past success is anything to go by, the next year looks set to be a promising one for the Dynamic Brothers. Playing in the world famous capital of London has definitely left them with a taste for more, so expect to hear a lot more from these boys in the near future!
