Influences: Seeing as we love and appreciate all genres and levels of music-making, any list of influences would be terribly incomplete. We have the deepest fondness for Elliott Smith, and the deepest ambivalence for ColdPlay. Folksters (Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake, early Joni), are important reference points, anything from the 60s and 70s (Status Quo, Rolling Stones, Kinks, etc), selective things from the 80's, many bands from the 90s indie rock tableau, and lots of classical and jazz--not the kind you hear when you're at the supermarket or watching, for whatever reason, figure skating on ice.
Sounds Like: Electric guitars, acoustic guitars, vocals and piano. People have likened the sound of Que Verde to Cat Power, Kristin Hersh/Throwing Muses, Exile on Main Street Liz Phair, and other such bands/music personas, but as you the listener know, comparisons are always at best just a loose approximation of what the thing actually sounds like. A recent reviewer said Que Verde was the Queen of Convenience, a reference trying to show a likeness to the acoustic guitar wielders Kings of Convenience.
