About Me

Obie Savage recalls the sweet sounds reminiscent of the 60’s and 70’s blues and soul legends. Hailing from New York City, this 5 piece (sometimes a 6 piece) group is as comfortable riding solid grooves as they are second lining their way straight down to New Orleans. Comprised of Obie Savage on vocals, Evan Howard on drums, the Texas transplant, Nick Diaz, on guitar, Matt Williams on bass, and Scott Bourgeois on saxophone, Obie Savageis quickly making the old new all over again.
After 5 years of frequenting and relentlessly performing throughout the local music scene in New Orleans, Evan, Scott, Matt, and Nick decided to move New York City a a place where they could cultivate and create a fresh sound and a fresh approach. It was here where they met the Youngstown, OH blues screamer Obie Savage and created Obie Savage. With a bi-weekly residency at the Upper West Side Haunt, Jacques-Imo's, Obie Savage is quickly solidifying their place as one of New York's top soul/funk bands. Combining heavy grooves, smooth horn lines, screaming vocals, and blues-drenched guitar, Obie Savage was born.
