About Me

Melanie grew up in Virginia and went to college in Nashville, Tennessee. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Scott. Together they make up the musical duo ‘BOMAR’, but both have individual musical careers as well. Melanie plays drums and sings bkgd vocals in Scott Bomar and the Hollywood Hillbillies (www.scottbbomar.com) and she sings bkgd vocals and plays percussion in the Buzzards (www.bandofbuzzards.com) with Will Ray. She is currently working on her first solo album with Marty Rifkin in Los Angeles. Melanie has been playing drums since the 80s and picked up the guitar in the late 90s. Her musical style is roots rock in the vein of Lucinda Williams and Sheryl Crow. Her influences are Patty Griffin, Tom Petty, Lenny Kravitz, Kasey Chambers, Ani Difranco, Tracy Chapman and Norah Jones but she enjoys anyone who puts out passionate work. She is a singer-songwriter who has been performing in LA clubs for over four years. Her deep, mellow voice resonates with each listener as they get a sense of realness through her performance. She, with her husband, won 2nd place in the Chris Austin songwriting contest at Merlefest and she’s a member of the Americana Music Association. She has co-produced her CD, recorded vocals for country demos, composed music for television and has done vocal work for charity projects. Music is Melanie’s passion. Please take a moment and enjoy hers.
