Manhattan Tribal, directed by Mimi Fontana, is NYC's first American Tribal Style Belly Dance Company and Fat Chance Belly Dance Sister Studio. Formed in March of 2007 Manhattan Tribal is on a mission to bring ATS in the Fat Chance Belly Dance style, a primarily West Coast art form, to the NYC-metro areaUsing a dance vocabulary with built in non-verbal cues, allows dancers to choreograph on the spot with lead and follow dancers interacting to create an organic live dance performance.
We perform regularly at shows throughout the tri-state area and are currently booking for 2010, please email us at [email protected]
Manhattan Tribal can add a "gypsy theme" to your party or show and we can use almost any music to improvise to. We can also bring our own band of musicians
Current troupe members are: Mimi Fontana, Kate Reed, Heather Bondra, Leigh Ann Eliseo, Stephanie Rubino, Maria "Naja" Richardson and Debbie Lakis
