About Me
JUNE 25TH, 2008.
well, you came here to learn about me and who i am, so i'll guess what i do best -- i'll give you random factoids about myself.
my name's nicole. i'm eighteen.
i've been singing since i was about seven; or at least, that's the first photograph i have to prove it. i started singing in church, which is where the picture mentioned above takes place. the first song i ever sang in public (yes, see the past two sentences) was in fact jesus loves me, because even at a young age, i knew he loved me. and i love him. and just like barney, we're one big family, so let's just hug and get it over with, yeah? that sounded lame, haha. oh well. :)
i knew i was meant to be a musician in fourth grade, when my class (as every class does and still does, from what i'm aware) did a concert that was based around random broadway numbers. i was lucky enough to get my own solo song, and opening night, my microphone was off and yet i was still heard throughout the packed gymnasium. i wasn't aware until after the concert, but when i was told this, i couldn't help but have a pang in my tummy that just happened to prove myself that i had at least a part of what it takes.
after that, i didn't do much in the means of music until my eighth grade year, when i got a solo in chorus (which was totally unexpected, i was up against some hard competition, and i'm so grateful to this day that i had the opportunity), along with the award of female vocalist at my eighth grade graduation (again, totally unexpected and totally appreciated.)
the summer following my eighth grade graduation, i began participating in a local singing competition based in a french festival (la kermesse). being my first time on stage alone, i was pretty freaked out the first time around, stage freight getting the best of me, no doubt, but the following year, i made the best of it and made it into the competition. and i've been a participant of that festival (as well as another fair's idol competition that i participated in the fall of 2007) ever since.
AND NOW, BACK TO YOUR SCHEDULED RANDOM FACTOIDS..
i enjoy reading, writing, playing piano, knitting (it's relaxing, alright?), singing, dancing like a crazy fool when there's no one around (literally.. when there's no one around; i don't dance, otherwise. unless i'm with friends, then that's a different subject completely. they bring out the best (yet craziest!) side of me), decorating, shopping, hanging out with my insane friends ;), starbucks (either peppermint java chip frap., or a peppermint hot chocolate! yummy!), disney movies (beauty and the beast is the best movie ever! the little mermaid's in a close second), oversized sunglasses, my amazing zune (pink 30gb. i LOVE it!), the twilight book series (steph meyer is my hero), super mario brothers (uhm, hello! best video game EVER!), my pets (two cats and a puppy!), and board games (i have a serious love for monopoly, it's been my favorite board game since i was about eight. and i pwn at it, too, okay? :)
i'm a christian, i have been all of my life (practically..), and while i do have strong beliefs and decent morals, i do know how to let loose and have fun. and don't worry, i won't force religion on you, although i do find conversations about religion pretty fascinating.
once upon a time, a boy broke my heart.. he probably wasn't even aware he was doing it. my heart broke into about a million pieces, and slowly but surely, i've been putting all of the pieces back together again. it's almost completely healed. almost.
i have morals, and i believe it's very important to stick to them. one of them being to stay pure until marriage. and yes, this decision was made long before i knew of the jonas brothers' existence, thanks.
on a lighter note -- i happen to get pretty crazy and loud when i'm out in public. which, i believe, is in part because of my growing up with a father who enjoyed joking around and embarrassing me in public -- so now the tables have turned, and i do the embarrassing. hehehe. :)
i grew up learning that respect goes a long way, and i like to think that i give everyone the respect that they deserve. especially my elders, which led off of my friendship with my nana, who happens to be my absolute best friend, despite the one hundred mile distance that separates us. she's the one person who was always given me the strength and motivation to move on and pursue my dreams. without her, i honestly do not know where i'd be right now.
and yes, this page is run entirely by me, and i answer any and
all comments and messages myself.
