About Me
At the start of 2007, A WISH FOR ANIMALS (AWFA), had the unfortunate experience to become involved with a severe animal cruelty case in Lancaster, California. The person responsible, Ivan George Callais, can be called a hoarder or a misguided rescue person. AWFA worked tirelessly alongside Lancaster Animal Control to build a case to permanently end the animal abuse. On January 13, 2008, Ivan vacated the property and A Wish For Animals, who had been given legal ownership of all the animals, alongside Animal Control were able to enter the property. Shocked by the physical and mental conditions of countless sick dogs and farm animals, AWFA focused all its efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, medically treat, shelter, and place all abused animals. Prior to taking ownership of the animals, AWFA had been supplying 2,000 pounds of food every two weeks, providing medical care when allowed, and rescuing animals. Within the last year, AWFA has spent over $60,000 feeding and treating these animals. With over 200 dogs placed in “forever homes,†there is still much to be done. The weather in Lancaster is severe. The nights are frigid and the concern is to keep the animals warm. Although animals have been rescued from a horrific abuse situation, Toni Eakes and A Wish For Animals are in immediate need of help while trying to find foster and/or forever homes. There are puppies, mothers with puppies, adult dogs, some pregnant females, and one mom with nine two week old puppies. The cats are in a crowded situation, their foster mom needs help now. Animal Acres has taken all the sick farm animals and is continuing their extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation of these animals. AWFA has worked closely with several other organizations to assist in providing temporary care and foster facilities for the remaining dogs. The animals have been seen by volunteer veterinarians and vet techs almost daily and most are in need of receiving vaccines, microchips and being spayed/neutered.As a non profit group, our mission is to protect needy animals, give them the opportunity to be loved, healthy, and safe. We are all volunteers, we rescue for neither profit nor recognition, but only to help these animals in need. 100% of our donations are used towards the animals we are fortunate enough to help. It is also our goal to raise awareness about animal cruelty, hoarding, and animal welfare. We wish to deeply thank all groups, individuals, and organizations who have found a place in their heart to reach out to a needy animal. An animal has been given the opportunity to be loved because someone cared.Mail donations can be sent to:5699 Kanan Rd. #178
