More Concerts On The Way
In a show of force artists from across the country are joining forces in concerts to show that the regional youth of Australia are not beaten by the worst drought in living memory.
In an innovative move, independent record label Hardrush Music has sought out the best of the music from drought affected areas to produce a compilation CD and concert series that celebrates the strength within these regions. Performing artists are drawn from all mainland states and include some higher profile acts as well as up and coming stars. And for sure the concerts will also raise funds for local charities.
The first concert and CD launch was held on 27 October in Euroa, the scene of the worst drought affected area in Victoria. Apart from the music the event raised funds for local charities which have been hard hit by the drought. The event received no govbernment assistance but was supported by the Euroa Agricultural Soceity, Water Recycle Group and Hardrush Music. Centrelink was in attendance to hand out drought assistance information covering items from business relief to youth depression counselling.
This concert seies will show the communities of drought affected regions that musicians also care and give the local youth class entertainment that they would otherwise miss out on.
The Mildura concert on 9 March 2008 will feature OutKry, Burgworth (VIC), The MERRg, Tich Lange, Antacid (SA) and Fuselage (NSW). Artists performing at the Euroa concert included Cosmic Nomads, The Love Dogs, Parmy, Sam Pollard amongst others. Other artists on the compilation album performing at other regional concerts include Big Book Fantasy, Byron Short, NAAW and Lydia Eaglin (QLD), Denim and Grant Walmsley (NSW) and Kalli (WA).
Future concerts are being planned for Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide, Port Augusta, Griffith, Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Warwick, Logan, Sunshine Coast and possibly Albany, Bunbury, Geralton and Karratha WA.
These concerts are open to all the community and are drug and alcohol free events. So come on and have a great time!
