How to describe singer/guitarist/composer Heidi Hunter? She's the rockinest broad on the planet! She's a one ma'am band!.. Now for some happy horse s$%t...um, okay let's cheese it up.. Heidi got her first guitar from her beloved grandmother at age 9 and taught herself to play by ear. She began her career as a traveling minstrel, performing everywhere she could, picking up influences around the globe and nodding to them in her songs. With well crafted lyrics and engaging rythyms she enticed many fine musicians into collaborating with her. Covering all the guitar, vocal, and songwriting duties in several three piece arrangements helped to solidify her exceptional rythmic skills.She studied under the great Hawaiin slack key master Sonny Laquesta and is proficient in many different tunings. She also wails a wicked lead on her beloved '77 five-piece Louisiana Swamp Ash maple neck American telly. She plays punk, blues, funk, rock and jazz and anything else that inspires her. Her original material ranges from straight up rockin blues to dark, insightful laments to funny, jazzy often raunchy numbers, to lightning fast punk escapades through the bad neighborhoods of her mind. Her show also includes carefully chosen, artfully arranged covers, but she's no jukebox so expect to hear some sweet forgotten gems and maybe a hit or two. If you like all kinds of good music and can handle wild musical mood swings she's the one for you! On stage with her at all times are at least two guitars of various tunings and if she's feelin frisky her ukelele! Her show consists of three one hour sets interspersed with comical between-song storytelling. Audience participation is always encouraged; she will accompany singers from the crowd with the guts to try, provided she knows the tune or can wing it and the singer knows what key they like. She takes requests and even honors them sometimes! She is known for her Janis Joplin tribute, as well as songs spanning five decades and from all genres. An excellent mimic, she also has a powerful, versatile voice of her own and puts her heart into every song.
