I have been involved in Motorsports since 1966, where I had my first role with Cooper Racing Car Company. I then moved on to the roll of Chief Mechanic to EX F1 Racer, Jack Brabham in 1968. In 1982 I Assumed control of the Formula1 team McLaren Racing. In 1984 we established a Partnership with TAG Group. In 1986 we started the creation of McLaren Marketing and in 1987 McLaren Electronic Systems was formed. In 1995 McLaren won the Le Mans 24 hour race on its debut as a manufacturer with the F1 GTR; and in the same year the Partnership between McLaren and Mercedes was established. In the year 2000, 40% of McLaren Group was sold to DaimlerChrysler. 2004 was the Royal Opening of McLaren Technology Centre by Her Majesty The Queen. In 2007 a long term Partnership with Vodafone was formed and "Vodafone McLaren Mercedes" was launched as a team. June 2008 I was awarded the "Prince Philip Medal" which was presented to myself at a prestigious awards ceremony, held in London and hosted by the UK’s Royal Academy of Engineering. McLaren produce a new World Champion. 2009, the release of our MP4-24 with Lewis in car 1 and Heikki in car 2 of the drivers.
